Dr. Karyn Grace Appointed Permanent Assistant Superintendent of Student Services

I am delighted to announce that
Dr. Karyn Grace has been appointed the permanent Assistant Superintendent of the Office of Student Services (OSS) after serving as interim since last February.
Dr. Grace is a lifelong educator who started her career as a paraprofessional. Over the years, she has served as a special educator, classroom teacher, middle school co-teacher, and district inclusion specialist. During her time as the interim Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Grace has led the development of the district Excel After School Tutoring Program, re-engaged the name-changing process of the SCALE program (formerly ASD), and leads an integrative, collaborative approach in developing strong systems across the newly restructured department.
As the district’s Special Education Division Coordinator for eight years, Dr. Grace focused on increasing student achievement through research and evidence-based instructional methodologies. She has a record of achieving significant academic gains for students, which she attributes to investing in personalized professional learning and positive educator-mentor and caregiver relationships.
Dr. Grace stepped in and stepped up at a critical time to fill a very important leadership role in our district. Over the past eleven months as interim, Dr. Grace has been a team player, student focused, and a collaborative partner with caregivers, families, educators, and other leaders. She has already started on the path to further develop systems and structures for improvement in OSS. I have no doubt that Dr. Grace will continue to provide stability, thoughtful leadership, and support to the department. Please join me in congratulating her on this well-deserved appointment.
