CPS School Committee to Hear Public Comment Virtually During Covid-19 Closure; Public Hearing on FY21 Budget April 7

CAMBRIDGE, MA -- The Cambridge School Committee values the essential role of community voice and input on the important matters discussed at the School Committee, including the COVID-19 response and the FY21 Budget. Until further notice, the Cambridge School Committee will hold its meetings and hear public comment virtually. The School Committee will resume the Public Hearing on the FY21 Budget on Tuesday, April 7th, and vote on a proposed extended timeline for the budget process.

Meetings will be livestreamed at www.cpsd.us and broadcast on Cambridge Educational Access TV (CEATV) Channel 98/99, as usual, and public comment will be heard through a call-in. In order to make public comment, members of the public must follow the same protocols of in-person meetings and sign up in advance. Public comment will be audio-only - participants will not be visible on the screen or television.

To call in using your phone line:
  • Call or email the Secretary to the School Committee, Terry Gist at 617.349.6620 or [email protected] by 12Noon on the day of the meeting, and leave a message with your name, email address, and phone number
  • Secretary Gist will then contact you back with the call-in number for the specific meeting in question.
  • After you provide public comment, please hang up. You can watch the rest of the meeting through the online live stream at www.cpsd.us or on Cambridge Educational Access TV (CEATV) Channel 98/99.
In order to emulate the in-person meeting structure, please note the following important information:
  • All public comment participants will be muted until called upon by the Mayor, in chronological order based on sign up.
  • While awaiting their turn to speak, participants should rely on the Zoom or telephone audio to hear their name be called, as there may be a slight delay in the livestream or broadcast. When your name is called, please mute your computer or television in order to prevent an echo from being broadcast into the virtual meeting chambers.
To provide public comments by email:
Please email the School Committee at [email protected]. At this time, we cannot accept video or audio messages but we are exploring options for doing so in the future.
