Reading Fun, Students Back in Classrooms Today, COVID Testing
Posted on 03/01/2021

Dear CPS Community,

It was wonderful to see so many of our scholars in school today, as we launched expanded in-person learning for all grades. As I visited schools today, I saw many excited students and families, happy to be back in person with their teachers and friends, despite the rainy weather. I also overheard many educators surprised to see how tall or mature their students looked in-person!

In an effort to keep everyone safe and healthy, CPS is offering free COVID testing to all in-person students, teachers and staff. We kicked off our student surveillance testing with nearly 300 students participating in testing last week and today launched an initial pilot as part of our participation in the state’s pooled COVID testing program for elementary students. For more information on our testing plan, you can click here.

Finally, did you know March is National Reading Month? Our Library Media Services team has many resources for you, including virtual read alouds, recommended book lists, and access to free digital books, graphic novels, and videos. See below for more details!

Sincerely,
Kenneth N. Salim, Ed.D
Superintendent
