Greetings CPS Community!

I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weekend! I know that many of you participated in Danehy Park Community Day. It was a great success. Fall is certainly in the air and we are excited about all of the wonderful annual events that happen in the fall at our schools!

I hope you will join my team and I at tomorrow’s School Committee meeting. We will present and discuss our multi-year district plan. Specifically, we will share the initiatives that the district will focus on this school year.

I also want to acknowledge the challenges that have been occurring with our door-to-door transportation services that are provided by NRT Transportation Company. Unfortunately, the company is experiencing a significant driver shortage that is impacting their ability to provide the services that we need. We thank each of you for your patience as we work with them and also explore alternate companies that can support the demand that we have to provide services to our students.

I am pleased to announce that we have hired a new Director of Family and Community Engagement. Mr. Raymond Porch will be joining our team in this role. Mr. Porch comes with a wealth of experience across many areas in the K-12 public school setting. A formal announcement is forthcoming. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Porch.

Please be reminded that this Wednesday is an Early Release Day for all students, JK - 8.

Make it Great!

Dr. Victoria L. Greer

Kennedy-Longfellow Social Worker Achieves Dream, Swims English Channel

We are inspired by Kennedy-Longfellow School Social Worker, Natalie Lang, who recently achieved her dream of swimming the English Channel. Natalie completed the milestone swim on August 22, 2022.

Natalie has been swimming competitively for several years and was inducted into the Vermont Open Water Swimming Hall of Fame this year. She has completed multiple open water swims in Vermont, including the full 25 mile length of Lake Memphremagog, and last year she crossed the 20.1-mile Catalina Channel in California. Natalie signed up to swim the English Channel three years ago. Regarded as the “Everest” of swimming, the 20.5-mile body of water is between England and France. It is the world's most historically significant and iconic marathon swim. Natalie completed the swim in 12 hours and six minutes.

WCVB was also inspired by her story. Check out their feature here!
