The mission of the Haggerty School is to achieve high levels of learning for all students while advancing social justice and celebrating students’ social and celebrating students’ social and emotional development in an inclusive learning community. We believe the most promising strategies for achieving our school mission, where we share the belief that all children have opportunities to reach their full potential, are to continue developing our capacity as a collaborative & collegial community.
As a small school community, we have the advantage of truly knowing all our students. We create, promote and foster an open and welcoming community, and we challenge students to be curious and engaged. Teachers use culturally relevant curriculum and authentic learning experiences, and regularly provide feedback to students.
At Haggerty, students with disabilities learn alongside peers in general education classes, with teachers and support staff collaborating to support all learners. Special Educators provide specialized in-classroom instruction that benefits all students. In addition to core subjects, our students enjoy experiential learning opportunities such as outdoor science exploration. We focus on music as a language, with classes based on the Kodaly method, and we provide diverse enrichment experiences with arts- and STEAM-centered programming.
With over 30 languages represented at Haggerty, we believe that the partnership with families is an essential component of the academic and social development of students. Come learn and connect with us!
