Greetings CPS Community!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and are looking forward to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s education summits about the design of our instructional framework. There is still time to share your thoughts by completing the survey, which closes at midnight. Your feedback will inform the Instructional Framework Design Team, which will be composed of students, educators, and school and district leaders. We are excited to engage you in the process and look forward to hearing your voice!

We are excited to share that we are very close to naming our new Chief Operations Officer. We are in the final stages of the interview process and will share an official announcement next week.

Thank you for your continued support.

Make it Great!

Dedicated Sacred Space at Every School

As equity and inclusivity are cherished values and a throughline in all of our work, we are proud to share that we have established sacred spaces at each of our schools for students and staff members who observe spiritual or religious practices that require regular prayer. The space is accessible throughout the year. Each also has a prayer rug for those who wish to use them.

The Office of Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (OEIB) worked collaboratively with the Muslim Community of Cambridge Public Schools (MCCPS), a CPS Employee Resource Group, in this endeavor.

Important Message from the Cambridge Public Health Department

Flu, Covid-19, and RSV are prevalent in the community at this time. All of these illnesses are highly contagious and the symptoms are all similar. It is possible for a person to be infected with multiple viruses at the same time.

Please continue to monitor for symptoms, use Covid tests as necessary, and stay home when you are not feeling well. Masking and hand washing are great ways to protect yourself and others against illnesses.

Cuteness Alert!

This Thanksgiving, we are so grateful for the vibrant young minds that fill our classrooms every day! We asked some of our youngest students what they are thankful for and it’s absolutely adorable!

RSTA Review

We have published initial findings from the multi-phase review of the Rindge School of Technical Arts (RSTA), the career and technical education program at the high school. We will continue to share information on the implementation of program improvements and additional phases of work.

Test Kit Distribution for Thanksgiving

Each school will give out a COVID test kit to every student and staff member tomorrow.

We ask that every student and staff member take a rapid test before school next Monday, November 28.

  • If positive or negative but have symptoms, please stay home and notify the school.

  • If negative and do not have symptoms, we will see you at school.

In addition, we, along with the Cambridge Public Health Department, strongly recommend masking at school through Friday, December 2, particularly if an individual traveled or attended a large indoor gathering over the Thanksgiving holiday.
