Dear CPS Community:

As we shared last month, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, Dr. Barbara Mullen, will be leaving us at the end of the month to lead the Rush-Henrietta Central School District in New York as Superintendent. I am delighted to announce that I have appointed Dr. Karyn Grace as interim Assistant Superintendent of the Office of Student Services.

Dr. Grace is a lifelong educator who started her career as a paraprofessional. Over the years, she has served as a special educator, classroom teacher, middle school co-teacher, and district inclusion specialist. She recently earned a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision.

In her current role as the district’s Special Education Division Coordinator, Dr. Grace focuses on increasing student achievement through research and evidence-based instructional methodologies. She has a record of achieving academic gains for students, which she attributes to investing in personalized professional learning and positive educator-mentor and caregiver relationships.

Dr. Grace will spend time with Dr. Mullen prior to her departure. I have no doubt that she will provide stability, continued leadership, and support to the Office during this time of transition. The Human Resources Department will lead a comprehensive search and interview process for a permanent replacement in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Victoria L. Greer
Superintendent
