Dear CPS Community,

Cambridge Public Schools deeply values our beautifully diverse community and we believe that our differences and the value that we place on being a welcoming and inclusive community are our strengths. It saddens me to have to send yet another message as a result of a senseless act of violence that has claimed the lives of innocent people. We recognize that the incomprehensible violence that occurred in Buffalo, claiming ten lives, may evoke strong emotions among our students and staff members. Tragedies of this nature reach far beyond where they occur and impact all of us in a variety of ways. This is why we are committed to being a school and community that stands against any form of racism and discrimination that continues to exist in our country.

As a school district, we continuously strive to create a safe and inclusive environment for our students, so they feel a sense of belonging and connection to our schools and where their social-emotional, physical and mental health are nurtured and valued.

Let us keep all of those affected by this tragedy in our thoughts and stand together in these troubling times.

Sincerely,

Dr. Victoria L. Greer
Superintendent
