In-Person Learning Expands, Remote Family Listening Sessions, “Stop the Virus” Video, Updated Travel Guidance

Dear CPS Community,

It was wonderful to welcome back hundreds more elementary and Amigos students today for full time, in-person learning. Kudos to our elementary schools and Amigos for reaching this important milestone!
Stop the Virus Video
It’s more important than ever for our community to remain vigilant with all our COVID-19 safety protocols. Everyone - including individuals who have received vaccines - must continue to wear a mask, maintain physical distance, and wash hands frequently to prevent virus transmission.

For a fun, musical take on COVID safety, watch this "Stop the Virus," music video by Bobby Tynes (Interim Principal at the Peabody School) and Tracy Rose-Tynes (Associate Chief of Clinical Services at Cambridge Public Health.)

With April break around the corner, please remember that TRAVEL is a high risk activity.
While updated state guidance no longer mandates travelers to get tested and quarantine upon return to Massachusetts, CPS strongly encourages that travelers closely follow the state travel advisory:

Excerpt from Massachusetts Covid-19 Travel Advisory:

Residents returning from out of state travel are advised to quarantine for 10 days upon their arrival.  Travelers in the following categories are exempt from this quarantine advisory:

  • Travelers who have received a negative COVID-19 result on a test administered not more than 72 hours prior to their arrival in Massachusetts.  Travelers may also test out of the quarantine advisory after arrival in Massachusetts, as long as they quarantine until receiving a negative test result.
  • Anyone who is returning to Massachusetts after being out of the State for fewer than 24 hour
  • Travelers who are fully vaccinated (i.e. who have received two doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines OR who have received a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, 14 days or more ago) and who do not have symptoms.

Our community has worked hard this school year to limit our students’ and staff’s exposure to the virus. Please consider the potential risks to your family and our community as you consider non-essential travel for this year’s April break.
