Update: February 24, 2022
CPS has not made any changes to our mask protocols and masks continue to be required indoors in all CPS facilities. As we learn more about what the recently announced
City of Cambridge Mask Requirement for Indoor Public Places means for CPS, we will provide a timely update.
February 18, 2022
Dear CPS Community:
I know there is community interest and discussion regarding CPS’ mask mandate, especially following the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE) recent announcement to lift the statewide mask requirement on Monday, February 28. While this recent announcement has amplified the conversation, my team and I have been engaged with the City of Cambridge and the Cambridge Public Health Department for months, weighing these difficult decisions.
At this time, we have not made any changes to our mask protocols and our current requirements will remain in effect following the February break. Looking ahead, we will align any changes with those the city makes. We are grateful to the city for consistently prioritizing the health and safety of its residents since the onset of the pandemic. As we learn more about what easing mask restrictions will look like for our city, including the CPS community, and a timeline, we will share that information with you in a timely manner.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Dr. Victoria L. Greer
Superintendent
