Dear CPS families, students, and staff -
We are excited that tomorrow morning we will be welcoming some of our CPS students back to school buildings in person! CPS staff - principals, teachers, support staff, custodians, administrators and many others - have been working tirelessly to ensure a SAFE environment for all.
See this short video for a sneak peek at some of these school preparations!
As you may know, our CPS team worked with scientific and medical experts and the Cambridge Public Health Department to develop a
Safety and Facilities Manual. It contains procedures for in-person learning, including social distancing, mask-wearing, air ventilation, hand washing, and protocols for when individuals demonstrate symptoms. All of these protocols are a new frontier for all of us, and we are confident that these deliberate and well-planned measures will help minimize risk for our students, staff, and families.
The decision to bring back our students is not one we took lightly. Remote learning is a challenge for many, but it is particularly difficult for our youngest students and those who need specialized assistance, which is why their return to school buildings has been prioritized.
It is our hope that more students will be able to return to school safely in the near future. We promise to keep you updated as we work diligently towards that goal. Thank you and take care.
Sincerely,
Kenneth N. Salim, Ed.D.
Superintendent
