The Kennedy-Longfellow School is a diverse, inclusive, and equity-centered community in the heart of East Cambridge. Our school-wide focus on anti-bias and anti-racist practices promotes an appreciation for our multiple identities, while improving our ability to recognize and interrupt bias. As a school community, we are committed to being agents of social change.
At the Kennedy-Longfellow School, we challenge all students to be curious and engaged learners through culturally relevant curriculum and authentic classroom and field experiences. Our long-standing KeyPal Program pairs 5th grade students with employees from Draper Laboratory and Massachusetts Institute of Technology to develop computer literacy skills while learning about careers in science and technology.
All Preschool – 5 students have access to classroom-based Chromebooks and an array of technology and engineering tools in our MakerSpace. Teachers collaborate with fine arts and technology specialists to create curricula utilizing SmartBoards, digital cameras, green screen technology, programming tools, games, digital printers, and robotics equipment.
With over 30 languages represented, we believe that the partnership with families is an essential component of the academic and social emotional development of our students. Our Friends of K-LO family group supports school based events, field trips, and access to culturally relevant materials for our classrooms.
