DAVID J. WEINSTEIN is the proud parent of two Cambridge Public Schools students and the proud product of the public schools of Greenburgh, New York. He is serving his third term on the Cambridge School Committee. David began his career in education as a full-time certified classroom teacher in public schools in Massachusetts and New
York, teaching both art and English in grades K-12. He has also worked with children with special learning needs
and as a substitute teacher at the New York School for the Deaf. Prior to being elected to the School Committee,
he served as a parent representative on the Graham and Parks School Steering Committee and on CPSD principal
and teacher hiring committees. David has more than 20 years of curriculum development, communications, and
project management experience in K-12 schools, nonprofits, and higher education. As Assistant Director of ENACT:
The Educational Network for Active Civic Transformation, he has guided and grown a 50-state, nonpartisan civic
education program based at Brandeis University that teaches college students how to be effective, engaged
citizens at the state legislative level. David has a BA in American Studies from Wesleyan University, where he also
completed the undergraduate Educational Studies Program; and an EdM from the Harvard Graduate School of
Education focused on teaching and learning, educational policy, and teacher leadership.
