Summer Reading 2025

Preschool (CPP) - Grade 5

Elementary school students are encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes each day!

Use our Summer Reading Star Chart to explore ways to make reading even more fun! Keep track of the books you read so you can talk about them with your friends and teachers in September. Find even more summer learning activities below.

We also encourage students to follow the Cambridge Public Library (CPL) Summer Reading BINGO Program. Pick up a bingo board from any CPL location – then complete the reading challenges and fill out your bingo board for a chance to win prizes!

Grades 4-6, get started on the Mass Children's Book Award reading list! You'll get to vote on your favorites at school next year! Book Shelf available on SORA.

Grades 6-8

Middle school students are encouraged to read for at least 20 minutes each day or 2.5 hours a week during the summer and record their reading on a reading log. In total, students should read at least 5 books over the summer (one is a grade level book provided by CPS). All students entering sixth through eighth grade must choose one book from their grade level list; see first link in list below. Schools will provide a copy of the books to all students, and students should be prepared to discuss their book in book clubs in September.
