Cambridge Public Schools Teacher Named Massachusetts Health Educator of the Year
It is with immense pride and joy that Cambridge Public Schools announces that Ms. Terri Bowman has been named
Massachusetts Health Educator of the Year. The Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Inc.’s (MAHPERD) prestigious recognition is a testament to Ms. Bowman’s remarkable dedication, expertise, and the profound impact she has had on her students and her school community. Ms. Bowman has been a vital part of CPS since 2015 and has spent the last nine years enriching the Vassal Lane Upper School with her exceptional teaching and leadership. Her decade-long career as a Health and Wellness Educator is marked by an unwavering commitment to student well-being, equity, and inclusion. Ms. Bowman’s organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability have made her a standout educator and a beloved figure among her students and colleagues.

Ms. Bowman’s dedication to perfecting her craft and her heartfelt approach to teaching have earned her the admiration and respect of everyone she encounters. Beyond her classroom responsibilities, she has taken on numerous leadership roles within VLUS and the Health, Physical Education, and Wellness Department. She has been an integral part of the Instructional Leadership Team, served as the Team Leader for the Specialists Team for seven years, and made a significant impact through her facilitation of the 6th grade Gay Straight Alliance. Her contributions to curriculum development and her mentorship of fellow educators have been invaluable, fostering growth and excellence within the department.
Ms. Bowman is more than an exceptional educator; she is a true inspiration. Her unwavering dedication to her students and colleagues and her passion for health education make her a deserving recipient of this honor.
