Purpose of the Family Survey

  • Hearing from families in a safe, anonymous context.
  • We are hearing from more families! Our response rate increased by 3 percent last year, and response rates are higher than national benchmarks.
  • Identifying priorities for building the capacity of families & staff to engage in meaningful, student-centered partnerships.
  • Using data to learn and improve.

  • The overall school climate of Cambridge Public Schools is in the 80th percentile nationally.
  • The family survey response rate increased by 3 percent from last year.
  • The experiences of families with children in ELL/SEI/ESL and families with children in early grades are consistently very favorable.
  • Schools' family engagement practices are welcoming and culturally responsive.

  • Families do not feel informed about the CPS District Plan and ongoing improvement efforts.
  • Communication of important information from the district needs improvement.
  • The biggest barrier to family engagement in schools is busy schedules.
