District Plan 2022-25

Cambridge Public Schools is in the process of developing our next multi-year district plan. A District Plan is an important tool for setting a clear and shared vision, determining how progress will be defined and measured, and identifying priorities for improvement that will support meaningful and lasting improvement for our students.

The process of developing the 2022-2025 District Plan will build on recent efforts documenting our strengths and opportunities for improvement. This includes Superintendent Greer’s entry plan process, which resulted in her December 2021 findings, Charting the Path Forward, the FY23 Budget development process and the 2016-2019 Building Equity Bridges project

Strategic Plan Framework
The are three components of the District Plan:

  • The Mission, Vision, and Core Values statements will describe our aspirations for the future and our commitments to each other.
  • The Outcomes and Indicators will identify the student outcomes we seek to improve and the data we will use to measure our progress and improvement, based on the adopted Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
  • The Objectives & Strategic Initiatives will identify the discrete areas of work we will focus on in the next three years to improve those Student Outcomes

  • June 21: School Committee Adoption Student Outcomes and Indicators

Mission, Vision, and Core Values
The foundation of this plan is the Vision, Mission, and Core Values, which describe the shared aspirations, commitments, and values that will drive the work we do as a school community over the next few years.

We began this process with students, who have developed a draft Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Watch this video to hear from them and see below for the draft they developed.

Look for updates about the outcomes and indicators discussions that will be discussed at both the June 7 and June 21 School Committee meetings.

Strategic Objectives and Initiatives

We are recruiting members of our community - students, families, and staff - to join focused working groups who will over the next two months review existing data, findings, and commitments, and provide recommendations to the administration on strategic initiatives, including priorities, sequencing, conditions for success, and interdependencies.

The Working Groups are organized around four key areas of work aligned with Superintendent Greer’s Entry Plan:

  • Accessible College & Career Pathways
  • Ambitious Instruction & Effective Supports

  • An Annual Action Plan focused on 1-3 initiatives
  • Implementation Plans for each Strategic Initiative
  • School Improvement Plans and Department Plans aligned to the district plan
  • A Dashboard with initiatives and outcomes
  • A transparent data-driven continuous improvement cycle
  • …And other systems alignment

More details to come.
