Sixth Grade

World Geography and Ancient History

6th graders explore how geography impacts human societies, with a special focus on water. They begin the year by considering their identities and communities, including their new school environment. They build on this foundation as they consider how geography impacts human societies around the world. They investigate the origins of human life and consider how and why the first complex societies evolved. They examine the growth of government and religion in ancient Mesopotamia, Northeast Africa, India, and Israel.
