The Thomas M. Maynard Ecology Center is a Cambridge Public Schools science education resource located near the Fresh Pond Reservation in West Cambridge. The Center is an informal science-learning environment used to provide field trips that allow students to explore the Fresh Pond Reservation and Black’s Nook Pond. These investigations enhance and support the Cambridge Science Curriculum and are aligned with the Massachusetts Science Technology/Engineering Framework.
Curriculum field investigations include:
- Second Grade – Plant and Animal Survival
- Fourth Grade – Earth’s Changing Surface
- Fifth Grade – Matter in Earth Systems
- High School - Environmental Science and Independent Study
