All City Music

All City Testimonial

Drums
The CPS All City Music Program is a passion-based district-wide initiative in music. The three All City ensembles are made up of 6th through 8th grade Cambridge Public Schools students across the district. The ensembles convene most Thursday afternoons for rehearsals that culminate in a spring concert in the Fitzgerald Theatre at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. If you are an upper-schooler passionate about music making, we would love to hear from you and welcome you into the program. The mission of the All City Music Program is to create and nurture an inclusive and passion-based city-wide musical community. No audition required. Additionally, if your scholar is interested in participating in the band or orchestra we recommend at least 1 year of experience on either a band/orchestra instrument to have the best experience in the program!

A Note on Transportation to All City:

It is important to note that caregivers/families need to arrange transportation home for students after rehearsals or provide permission for them to walk. According to district policy, Cambridge Public School transportation only provides busing transportation for students at schools located more than 1.5 miles from Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (DVUS and RAUC). All other participants are expected to find their own transportation or walk to CRLS. In the past, we’ve been able to allow students/caregivers to develop walking groups from school to school. Additionally, Cambridge Public Schools is not responsible for transportation home from the program.

"Thanks for a great performance tonight. The kids were impressive and it made for a genuinely high quality show. However - the most impressive, and unsung!, part of the entire evening was the enthusiastic, positive, and incredibly talented, dedicated, and engaged organization you have built. Every single one of your leaders / conductors / mentors / accompanists .... they were not just in the mix with the kids, and not just pushing positively for great efforts, but they were also having fun doing it! That infectious enthusiasm clearly begins with you - so thank you. Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for building this happy musical ecosystem. My wife and I supremely enjoyed tonight's show and are so glad that CPS has people like you. Thank you".
