Privacy & Security Update: September 3, 2021

Hello All CPS Staff,

Again, welcome back! As we all prepare for the return of students next week I'm sure the use of many online applications is on your minds. During the shift to remote learning in the spring of 2020, and for most of last year, we vetted, approved and adopted a number of new applications. Many Educators will continue to use these valuable tools.

This is a reminder to ensure that the online tools you are using with your students have been vetted and approved for use in CPS. A complete list can be found HERE, which is also linked off the "Teachers & Staff" page. If you wish to use a tool that is not marked as "Approved" feel free to enter a "New Resource Request".

The approved list of resources have been vetted and approved from a curricular, technical & privacy perspective. Every approved resource has an adequate Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) in place to ensure that any data the vendor might collect on our students is properly protected and only used for approved purposes; e.g. providing the online service. You may see some resources on the list that are marked as "Not Approved". These have been vetted by CPS in the past and do not meet our minimum requirements for protecting student data.

Feel free to reach out with any questions. Good luck with your start of the school year!
