When
Jeffrey Badette went to work at the Windsor House Senior Health Center
one morning, he had no idea he would soon be involved in a life or death
situation.
Jeffrey, who is a senior Health Assisting student at RSTA, noticed an
elderly patient in distress in the restroom. When he approached her,
she dropped to the floor with what turned out to be a heart attack.
Because of his medical training at the high school, Jeffrey kept his
composure and proceeded to use the skills he had obtained at school. He
then kept his patient calm until medical help arrived. Happily his
patient is now doing well thanks to Jeffrey’s quick response.
Jeffrey was able to work at the Windsor House though the Cooperative Education Program at RSTA.
This program places senior students in professional work environments
so they can practice the skills they have learned at school.
Did I mention it was only his third day on the job?
