ICTS Receives the 2014 Joseph Sakey Award

Cambridge Community Television (CCTV) has selected the ICTS department to receive the 2014 Joseph Sakey Award.

This award is given annually to the individuals or organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to the development of access to the media in Cambridge. The Sakey Award is named after the Director of the Cambridge Public Library who spearheaded the initial cable licensing in Cambridge in the early 1980's. Cambridge Community Television was established as a result of Sakey's efforts and vision, and has grown to become one of the most diverse and dynamic public access television stations in the country.

ICTS is being honored for their hardwork over the past year to deploy the city's media distribution system — which allows CCTV to stream over three channels. ICTS also has been willing to help CCTV utilize the system, and the shared network and fiber connections, to go live on CCTV's channels for important community events. This capability is something CCTV has long desired, and ICTS has helped to make it a reality.

The award will be presented at CCTV's Annual Meeting on April 23, 2014 at 6PM.
