Estimadas familias,

Dear Families,

One of the things we are working on here at Amigos is a high level of differentiated and targeted instruction for all students. Our math clinics held in different grade levels offer the perfect opportunity for us to do this. During math clinics teachers, interventionists, coaches and volunteers come together to provide each student with this differentiated and targeted instruction. Student groupings are flexible and intentional and provide opportunities for students to dig into a concept or skill that will move each of them forward. We have found that our math clinics are boosting student confidence and increasing student use of the Math Practice Standards such as “Making Sense of Problems” and Persevering in Solving Them” and “Modeling with Mathematics”.

This coming week is the Cosecha Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The Cosecha Conference is one of the leading conferences in the country for dual language and two-way immersion. I am excited to share with you that two of our teachers were selected to present at this conference. Biliteracy coach, Elika Fredrickson and Junior Kindergarten teacher, Noelle Danian, will be offering a session titled “Storytelling and Story Acting for Our Youngest Dual Language Learners”.

Our next Amigos School Council meeting is Wednesday, November 9 at 6PM. We will be continuing our work on Family Engagement and you can find the agenda

Sick Day

Cambridge Public Health Flu Clinics:
Oct. 12–Nov. 9
Nasal spray vaccine will not be offered.

The Cambridge Public Health Department will be offering free flu shots (influenza vaccine) to people who live or work in Cambridge at sites throughout the city from Oct. 12 through Nov. 9.

The flu can be a serious illness, and the best way to protect yourself is to get a flu shot every year. Flu vaccine is considered safe and effective for adults and children over 6 months. While there is no charge to the public for flu shots, people with health insurance are encouraged to bring their cards with them to the clinics.
