Dear Families,

Tomorrow night is our 4th Annual Multicultural Night! It is a wonderful opportunity to see the amazing diversity of our Amigos Community. The doors open at 5 and there will be food, music and joy until 7:30PM. I look forward to seeing you there!

This week I am sharing with you a letter from one of our 8th Graders. He is working on a special project and I hope you might be able to help him with it.

Hello everyone,
I'm Roberto, an 8th grader from Amigos School. I am in Project 351, a leadership development and service training organization sponsored by the State of Massachusetts. This Spring we are in leadership with Cradles to Crayons to collect clothes for children. Cradles to Crayons is a organization that provides children from birth through age 12, living in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive. They supply these items free of charge by engaging and connecting communities that have with communities that need. I am organizing a drive in order to get clothes. The dates are from March 27- April 5 and you can drop off any of the items below in the Amigos Main Office. I thank you in advance for supporting me in this project.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Principal

Estimadas familias,

Atentamente,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero

We Want to Hear from You!
CPS is pleased to launch our 2019 Family Survey. The purpose of this survey is to learn about the experiences of families in our schools and district. It is important to us that all families feel welcomed, and that all students receive the best possible education.

As a district committed to equity, we use survey results to understand whether students and families from all backgrounds are having positive experiences in our schools. Your answers will be completely anonymous and can not be connected to you.

Nutrition MonthHappy National Nutrition Month!

Breakfast and lunch is offered every day in all schools. Encourage your students to select non-flavored milk in place of chocolate milk and whole fruit in place of 100% juice. Sipping smarter drinks, such as low-fat milk or water, helps cut back on the added sugar children consume every day. The American Heart Association recommends children have no more than six teaspoons or 25 grams of sugar per day. Find more ways to cut back on sugar intake here.

April is School Library Month
School Library Month is AASL's celebration of school librarians and their programs. The 2019 theme is Everyone Belongs @ Your School Library and the 2019 spokesperson is Dav Pilkey. Visit the AASL website to view and share a video from Dav on the importance of school libraries and reading, register for complimentary webinars, and download free resources - and check back often for more to come!
