Folk New England

Folk New England Brings Music to Haggerty
Musician Marylou Ferrante recently had the opportunity to work with grades 3, 4, and 5 on Topical Songs as part of the Stories through Song grant.

ASCAP, The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers has sponsored this generous grant through Folk New England for four schools.

Ms. Ferrante will be back two more times to present the History of the Blues and Folk music in May and June.
Every culture has folk music.

Students at Haggerty are learning about the roots of Folk Music from the Folk Revival in Cambridge.

Math

Coaches Corner
Dear Haggerty Families,

Some of you have stopped me in the hall to ask me what else you can do at home to support your child in math. As Christopher Danielson says on his website, “We know we need to read with our children every day, but what should we do for math? Answer: Talk about math with them as we and they encounter numbers and shapes in our everyday lives.” His blog shares anecdotes of ways that he has talked about math with his own children. He also has links to other math resources for families. Check out his website - and let me know if you find it helpful.

Mathily yours,

Nili Pearlmutter, Haggerty Math Coach
