Curriculum Night is This Thursday!

CURRICULUM NIGHT is an opportunity to meet your child’s teachers and receive information about coursework for the semester. On the night, you will follow your child’s schedule and meet teachers in their classrooms for a short presentation about what your child is studying. You can also choose to attend information sessions about certain resources available to CRLS students & families.

Construction Mentoring Program
The Construction Mentoring Program is back! Seniors interested in pursuing a career in the Building Trades are invited to attend an information session on Thursday, Sept 19th Block 3 (TAKE LUNCH A) in the RSTA Carpentry Room 1305. You can get a pass from your Guidance Counselor or in the CCRC to attend. For more information, email Ms. Reese the RSTA Career Advisor.

Teens & Vaping Workshop
Please join us for this important workshop! Tracy Rose-Tynes, the Manager of School Health Services, who recently completed her Thesis on E-Cigarettes, is presenting a workshop for parents, students, and community members during the October 29 CRLS School Council Meeting, from 6-8PM at 119 Windsor Street, Cambridge Public Health Department 2nd Floor Conference Room. Open to all families, students, and community members.

CRLS Modern Dance Company Auditions
The CRLS Modern Dance Company will hold auditions on Tuesday, September 17th and Wednesday, September 18th. Come join the fun and learn and perform dances created by students, faculty and guest artists! Dancers must sign up in advance, please see Ms. D or Miss Thigpen in the dance studio (room 0621) for more information.

Cambridge School Volunteers Tutoring
CSV Tutoring Center: One-to-One Tutoring Before and After School, Room 2407
Volunteers serve as one-to-one tutors and mentors twice a week with high school students of all levels and needs. Volunteers provide students with individual lesson plans to improve their skills and knowledge in particular subjects. Approximately 40% of the students speak a language other than English as their first language. The Tutoring Center is open before school from 7:30 to 8:00 a.m. and after school from 2:45 to 3:45PM. Note: The first day of before and after school Tutoring Center will be September 23; the last day is June 12.
CSV Tutoring Center: Academic Support Classes, Room 2403
Students are assigned to the Tutoring Center during the school day for credit-bearing individualized academic support services, covering all subjects. CSV volunteers are matched to students singly or in small groups.
Drop-in Math Center
Volunteers help students on a walk-in basis with math problems ranging from pre-algebra to calculus, before school daily, between 7:30 and 8AM.
College/Career Mentoring Program
Volunteers help high school seniors, some of whom may be the first in their families to apply to college, by assisting with college, job readiness, and gap year program research; understanding and following through with all stages of the application process; and developing personal statements. In addition, volunteers help students identify scholarships and complete scholarship applications and essays. The program meets on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 4:30PM. Note: The first day of service for the College and Career Mentor program (CCMP) is Wednesday, October 16, 2:30-4:00 in the College and Career Resource Center, Room 1501.

Driver's Education
Registration: Wednesday, September 25 | 2:30PM | Auto Shop Classroom
Cost: $600. Full payment is due on October 1st.
Classes Begin: Tuesday, October 8th
We offer afternoon an class at 2:30PM and an 6PM evening class.

Cambridge Teen Health Center
The Cambridge Teen Health Center, in partnership with Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), is a school-based health clinic located in the CRLS health office. The center is staffed by a full time Nurse Practitioner, a sexual and reproductive health educator and mental health specialists – psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.

Starting to Think about Working During the School Year?
Come see us in the Youth Employment (Room 2101) every day during lunch!
The first opportunity we have available the Harvard Internship Program (HIP). HIP provides CRLS juniors and seniors with a paid internship at a library or office on Harvard's campus four days a week after school (total of eight hours) from October - May. We'll be interviewing in September.
If you're interested in that, or want help finding other employment, please come find us in room 2101 at CRLS during all three lunches!
