Estimadas Familias,

Sinceramente,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero

Dear Families,

It has been wonderful to see so many of you here for Parent/Teacher conferences. As a school, we value your participation and the insight you provide us as to how we can best support your children. As the saying goes, “It takes a village” and your collaboration and support is appreciated. At your conference, you should have received a report of your child’s attendance at school. Regular and timely attendance at school is a crucial part of any student’s success, and life-long attendance patterns are formed as early as kindergarten. The first bell rings at 8:40 and teaching and learning begins at 8:55 if not a few minutes earlier. If you are struggling to get your child to school or to school on time, please let us know so we can find a solution together.

Cell phones have become a part of modern day life. However, their integration into the school community is often problematic. Our school rule is that cell phones are not to be seen, used or heard inside the school building. If your son or daughter has a cell phone, please remind him or her of this rule. If cell phones are used during the school day, they will be held in the office until dismissal time. It is also important to share with your child that recording or photographing others without their consent is against state law.

I’d like to invite families to “Save the Date” for the Jr.K-4th Grade Music Concert on Friday, December 9 from 1- 2:30 PM. All of our students JK-8 participate in music class and are exposed to benefits music provides to both the heart and mind. If you follow this link you can learn more about what music class looks like at our school and how one teacher embraces culture and song in order to strengthen our community.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
