All School Share
At this month's All School Share, we were standing room only! We learned about facts and opinions from our first graders. Fifth graders recited their writing regarding Espiranza Rising. JK talked to us about human rights. There was lots of poetry from a few grades. It was a great day!

Calling All Runners!
On May 10-11, a dedicated and crazy group of Peabody School Parents, Teachers, and Friends are teaming up to run our third Ragnar Cape Relay. We are running to support The Friends of the Peabody School (FoP), a charitable trust dedicated to enriching the educational environment at the Peabody School in Cambridge, MA.

How does it work? The Ragnar is a long distance, team, overnight running relay that covers about 200 miles from Plymouth to Provincetown from about 5AM on Friday to 11PM on Saturday. Only one runner hits the road at a time. Each participant runs three times, with each leg ranging between 3-13 miles and varying in difficulty. Runners average about 17 total miles, with some of the shorter runner positions totaling 11 miles and some of the longer runner positions totaling 24 miles.

How can I help? If you can run, we can use you. It doesn’t matter if you can run 3 miles or 13. It’s a team event. If you can drive, we can also use you. Our drivers are the backbone of the team and keep the runners motivated. If none of this sounds appealing, you can help by spreading the word and helping us fundraise. You can find more info about our team here.

Thanks,
Friends of Peabody

Singers Invited!
NCFO will again participate in the Cambridge Science Festival. This year's program is called One Whole Step for Man: Songs of Space Travel

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing in song! Come sing with us about the history, challenges, and potential destinations of space travel. Our program includes songs about animals in space, the exploration of Mars, and what happens as you approach the speed of light. For a sample of a song about the moon, watch "Cool Moon" by David Haines (as performed in 2014). One Whole Step for Man will include songs by several contemporary composers, including David Haines, who has been featured prominently in many of our previous Science Festival Choruses, plus Bruce Lazarus, Dan Kallman, and Lauren Mayer; and local composers Molly Ruggles, Tim Maurice, Andrea Gaudette, and Ruth Hertzman-Miller. We will also sing a medley composed by Cambridge Public School students under the direction of David Haines and Andrea Gaudette, as part of their CPS Songwriting Workshops.

WHO: Adults and children 6 and older are invited to join us (children 6 to 11 require an accompanying adult). All experience levels are welcome! Space Opera participants may also sing in One Whole Step for Man; rehearsals and performances for the two productions will not conflict. Sarah Eastman will direct the chorus, with assistance from David Bass.

WHEN: Rehearsals (NOTE NEW DAY):
Thursdays at 6:15, starting January 24.
-- 6:15 to 7:30 Singing (will include some brief science discussions)
-- 7:30 to 8:15-ish Singing for adults and older children who wish to work on the more challenging music
