Staff News
This week we hear from our School Counselor

My name is Nadia Jeudy and I am currently the school counselor at The Peabody for the past 12 years. My role is counseling students on IEPs as well as off IEPs. I have over 18 yrs of experience working with children and families from as young as early intervention to high school. One great aspect about my role is that one does not need to be determined special education to receive services. I run individual, dyad, group and classroom counseling. Most of my work is around social skills development. I’m also here for crisis management or if you have a student who is struggling with transitions/minor changes both in/ out of school. I work closely with teachers who may have students struggling socially.

In addition to my role, I’m also the contact person for Big Brother/Big Sister. They are a non-profit agency that comes to our school during the school year. The volunteers tend to be from local colleges (most Tufts students) who want to volunteer to spend time with our students’ onsite. They only come 1x a week during the student’s lunchtime. All visits happen at school unless a family chooses otherwise. All students are given consent from grades 2-5 if they would like one.

Then it goes by a first come basis. You most likely will find me in the front hallway greeting students and families each day.

If you have any questions/concerns, please don’t hesitate to stop by or reach me at 617.349.6530 x1071.

Connection Meeting and Coffee
Wednesday, October 18th | 8AM
The Connection provides an opportunity for all concerned adults to meet for conversation about what's going on for the students of our school.

The first meeting of Peabody parents and caregivers will be on10/18 at 8AM. We will gather in the Library to get to know each other, as well as our school administrators, Principal Jen Ford and Family Liaison, Nicole Sullivan.

Join us to get more info about school news, volunteer opportunities, community events, and more.

If you have any topics or questions for the agenda, please email me. Hope to see you there!

Market

Peabody/RAUC Market
Dear Peabody and RAUC communities:

On the third Thursday of every month we hold a community market in the school cafeteria. Everyone in our school communities are welcome to come and shop at this market. All the food is free! There are fresh fruits and vegetables (seasonal), grains and pastas, milk and eggs, usually some sort of meat and other staples.

We are looking for volunteers to help set up, run and clean up the market. Click here to sign up.

I look forward to seeing you at the market next week. All are welcome! Please remember to bring your bags.

Thank you,

Ellen
(RAUC parent of Owen in 8th grade and Graham in 6th grade)

Homework Strategies & Tips

Homework is a time for your child to learn how to budget their time and plan out their assignments. Please help your child learn these important skills. Your child should read to self or to someone else, or be read to every night.
Math facts are important for children to master. Automaticity of these basic facts allow for future math work to be easily grasped. Students are practicing skills that are introduced in the classroom. Homework is important but be sure to allow enough time for play. Read 10 Tips to Help Your Child with Homework >>
