Dear CSUS Parents and Caregivers,
WINTER SHOWCASE and POTLUCK DINNER
This Thursday night from 6 - 7:30PM, we present our 5th annual Winter Showcase: A Festival of the Arts. I encourage you come celebrate the artistic expressions of our scholars under the tutelage of our outstanding arts team: Steve Mossberg, April Silbert, Murray Tripp and Simon Watts. Join us after the musical presentations at the PCO sponsored potluck dinner and enjoy the wonderful displays of visual art.
SCHOLAR-LED CONFERENCES
This Wednesday night the School Site Council will meet from 6:30 - 8PM in Room 312. The main topic of the evening will be Scholar–Led conferences. Beginning after the release of the 1st semester report card, every scholar will lead a conference and present their academic work. Come and join us to get a closer look at our new scholar–focused initiative.
DIVERSITY DIALOGUES
Our Dec. 1st Diversity Dialogues, “I’m a Good Person! Isn’t That Enough?” was wonderful success! The event was well attended by a cross section of our CSUS community and many others from across Cambridge. Attendees enjoyed great food and warm conversations before the formal presentation. Debby Irving, the author of Waking Up White facilitated an engaging interactive presentation about her experiences as an upper middle class white woman growing up in Winchester and living and working in Cambridge. Her remarks resonated with many, encouraging us to be more reflective about our “racial lens” and calling for more collaboration and healing.
On Jan 5th, 2017, Diversity Dialogues will present Part Three of the PBS film Race: The Power of an Illusion which is entitled The House We Live In. Dinner will be provided at 6PM; the video will begin at 6:30PM and the dialogues will be facilitated by the CSUS Cultural Proficiency Team. We hope to see you there!
STEAM NIGHT
Just a heads up that our 2nd annual STEAM Night will be held from 5:30 – 7PM, Jan. 24th. Details will follow after the break.
