Welcome Back!
Dear Fletcher Maynard Academy Families,
Welcome to the Fletcher Maynard Academy, a place where we all are committed to building and nurturing a community of caring citizens who are life-long learners. If you are returning to FMA, you already know our school is a vibrant community where students, parents, and staff join together to create a wonderful learning environment. To those students and parents who are new to the Fletcher Maynard we extend a warm welcome and best wish for an exciting and productive year in your new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our school. With the first day of school, September 8th (1st - 5th grades) and September 10th (preschool, junior kindergarten and kindergarten) fast approaching, it is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you, as part of our educational family, to another school year.
After the “Hustle and Bustle” of the last year, I want nothing more than to have staff spend time with their families relaxing and enjoying the sun. Many teachers have participated in staff development and workshops that will enable them to further their expertise in various curriculum areas and refine their classroom management skills. Others have spent valuable time previewing instructional materials for use in our educational program. Many teachers have already been in to prepare their rooms and create learning environments for your children. It has been a productive summer for us all!
We warmly welcome new members of the FMA staff: Elizabeth Higgins, Upper Grades Music Teacher, Katherine Swedberg, Grade 1 Teacher, Erica Astrove, JK SEI Teacher, and a few new ASD paras: Paramjit Dillion, Cristina Foyo-Cardenas and Aric Sutton. These new members of our FMA family are positive additions to our educational program. I am certain that, as you get to know them, you will appreciate their dedication to our students.
This year we’ll begin a classroom breakfast program. This exciting program will give your child the opportunity to eat a well-balanced, nutritious complementary breakfast everyday in their classroom. Breakfast will no longer be in the cafeteria but delivered to each room at the beginning of each day, 7:45AM.
Roger, Corey, and Tony our custodians, have been working very hard to ensure that your children will start school in a building which is clean, attractive and which provides a conducive atmosphere for learning.
As always our goal at FMA is to provide all students with the opportunity to excel in academics, athletics, and fine arts so that they may become positive, contributing members of our school and community. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to give me a call at school 617.349.6591 or on my cell phone 617.201.7817. I look forward to working with you this school year. Let’s make it the best year ever!
Sincerely,
Robin Harris
