Amigos in the Big Apple! 
The eighth grade trip to New York City was spectacular. Although we spent three days away from our families, we got to bond even more with our second family, one another. We worked hard fundraising thousands of dollars for that one cause, but I believe the bake sales, the leaf raking, babysitting, car washing, and all the parent planning meetings were all worth the while. Our 6th Grade Field Trip to the Maynard Ecology Center / Ciencias, 6to

Art of Problem Solving
This year, upper school math teachers at Amigos have been exploring the Art of Problem Solving curriculum. It is an innovative approach to teaching math that is designed to help students discover mathematical concepts on their own and with their peers as they solve problems. What are you doing this summer?
We are fast approaching the end to a fabulous school year. This year’s summer break will be 10 weeks long, and we would love to have all students fill this time with enriching activities. As a staff, we have been working hard to promote all of the wonderful summertime opportunities to the student body. If you have any questions, or are still looking for a program for you child, whether it is for a week, a month, or the entire summer please don't hesitate to contact Patrick Kantlehner aka Mr. K, the Physical Education and Health teacher/Out of School Time Liaison.

Social Studies Update
One of our district-determined measures requires that our students explore primary sources to analyze them through persuasive essays. This year, in conjunction with Sra. Butler-Rahman, the 6th graders completed two such essays relating to the impact of Hammurabi’s Code and the importance of the Nile River in the establishment of the Egyptian civilization. Algunas de las esperanzas y metas del distrito requiere que nuestros alumnos utilicen fuentes primarios para fomentar su análisis en la forma de ensayos persuasivos.
