Estimadas familias,

¡Es difícil creer que solo tenemos tres meses más de escuela! Los padres en los grados JK- 7 deben recibir información del maestr@ de su hij@ durante las próximas semanas para programar la próxima ronda de conferencias entre familias y maestr@s. La facultad y yo también comenzaremos a trabajar en listas de salón hogar para el próximo año. Como siempre, quiero recordarles que debido a la complejidad de esta tarea y la necesidad de tener aulas heterogéneas y equilibradas, no podemos tomar peticiones de los padres. Pueden ver la rúbrica que utilizamos para ayudarnos a tomar estas decisiones aquí.

Recordemos que somos una escuela pequeña y sólo hay dos opciones para salón hogar en cada grado. Si por alguna razón existe información convincente de la cual no estoy al tanto todavía, que debe ser sopesada entre los otros factores de colocación, favor de enviármela por escrito antes del 1 de mayo para poder considerarla. De lo contrario, por favor sepan que queremos las mejores agrupaciones posibles y tomaremos decisiones con el mejor interés de cada alumn@ en mente.

COVID
Esta semana, 5 personas de nuestra comunidad han dado positivo en la prueba de COVID! Por favor, sigan manteniendo a su hij@ en casa si él/ella/elle muestra algún síntoma. También, si su hij@ da positivo en la prueba de Covid en casa o fuera de la escuela, por favor hágamelo saber a mí o a la enfermera Tamara para que podamos tener un registro preciso.

MCAS
El MCAS continúa la próxima semana para el 5º grado. Si tiene alguna pregunta sobre el MCAS, por favor no dude en llamarnos. También, por favor, tenga en cuenta que vamos a recoger todos los teléfonos celulares de acuerdo con las normas de administración de MCAS.

El calendario de exámenes es el siguiente:
7 y 8 de abril - 5º grado artes del lenguaje inglés
12 y 13 de abril - 3º y 4º grado artes del lenguaje inglés
27 y 28 de abril - 5º grado matemáticas
5 y 6 de mayo - 3º y 4º grado matemáticas
9 y 10 de mayo - 6º, 7º y 8º grado matemáticas
18 y 19 de mayo - 5º y 8º grado ciencias

Teléfonos móviles
Por favor, no llame a su estudiante a su teléfono celular durante el día escolar. L@s alumn@s que necesiten hacer llamadas de emergencia durante el día deben hablar directamente con sus profesores. La escuela no permite el uso de teléfonos celulares o cualquier dispositivo de telecomunicación inalámbrica durante la jornada escolar.

Amigos Courageous Conversations (ACC)
El ACC tuvo una maravillosa reunión anoche en la que discutimos la historia de Amigos, los cambios demográficos en Cambridge y el impacto que ha tenido el redlining en diferentes comunidades del país. Tenemos un grupo sólido de padres comprometidos con el aprendizaje, el crecimiento y el apoyo a nosotros y a los demás en nuestra lucha por la equidad en la educación de nuestros hij@s. Gracias a tod@s l@s que asistieron anoche y a los padres/madres/tutores que planificaron y dirigieron la conversación.

Dear Amigos Families,

It is hard to believe we only have three months more of school! Parents in grades JK-7 should be hearing from your child’s teacher over the next few weeks to schedule for the next round of parent/teacher conferences and progress reports. The staff and I will also begin working on classroom placement lists for next year. As always, I want to remind families that due to the complexity of this task and the need to have balanced, heterogeneous classrooms, we cannot take parent requests. You can see the rubric we use to assist us in making these decisions here.

We are a small school and there are only two choices for placement at each grade level. If for some reason there is compelling information that I am not already aware of that should be considered along with other placement factors, please submit it to me in writing by May 1 for consideration. Otherwise, please know that we want the best groupings possible and will be making decisions with every child’s best interest in mind.

COVID
5 individuals in our community tested positive for COVID this week! Please continue to keep your child home if he/she/they show any symptoms. Also, if your child tests positive for Covid at home or outside of school, please let me or Nurse Tamara know so we can have as accurate records as possible.

MCAS
MCAS continues this week for the 5th Grade. If you have any questions regarding MCAS, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Also, please note that we will collect all/any cell phones in accordance with MCAS administration rules.

Cell Phone Reminder
Please do not call your student on their cell phone during school hours. Students who need to make emergency calls during the day are asked to speak to their teachers directly. The school does not allow the use of cell phones or any wireless telecommunication devices during the school day.

Amigos Courageous Conversations (ACC) 
The ACC had a wonderful meeting last night where we discussed the history of Amigos, demographic changes in Cambridge and the impact redlining has had in different communities throughout the country. We have a solid group of parents committed to learning, growing and supporting us and each other as we strive for equity in education for our children. Thank you to all who attended last night and to the parents who planned and led the conversation.
