Cambridge School Volunteers (CSV)
CSV is excited to return with in-person tutoring support for the CRLS community.
Drop-in Math Center - Before school (8-8:30AM)
Room 2403
Come by any day for support with all levels of math--no pre-registration required.
Subject-based Tutoring Services - Before school (8-8:30AM) or after school (3:15-4:15PM)
Room 2403 (before school) or Room 2407 (after school)
Meet one-to-one with a tutor once a week to receive support with one or more academic subjects and/or test preparation.
College and Career Mentoring Program - Wednesdays (3:15-4:15PM)
Career & College Resource Center (CCRC), Room 1501
Meet one-to-one with a mentor once a week to explore and plan for your post-secondary life. This can include career and college research, college admission essay help, scholarship application support, etc.

MBTA Charlie Card Update
IF YOU NEED A STUDENT MBTA CARD
NOTE: NO CARDS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO BE PICKED UP IN THE MAIN OFFICE. IF YOU MISS THE DISTRIBUTION DATES AND TIMES YOU WILL NEED TO REQUEST A CARD BY EMAIL.
M7 Cards:
Food Service letters for free card eligibility will be mailed and emailed to CRLS students. Students/families should forward the letter to us via email requesting their card.
S Cards:
Students should send an email to [email protected] requesting a card.
If You Lose Your Charlie Card
- If you lose your S or M7 Card, please notify the CRLS main office by email immediately, to see if you can get a replacement. With a limited number of Charlie Cards, replacement is not guaranteed but we will try!
- The MBTA will not refund the value remaining on a “Pay as You Go” S-Card.
- If you choose the Monthly 7-day option, the MBTA may be able to issue a temporary paper pass for the rest of the month.

A Gathering: CPS Caregivers and Educators TOMORROW
September 29th | 10-11:30AM & 6-7:30PM, Zoom
CPS has teamed up with Massachusetts Statewide Family Engagement Center and Cambridge Families of Color Coalition to bring families and educators together to discuss strategies to support families, two-way communication, and support families and educators to access resources. Educators and Families will have a sense of a new beginning to family-school partnerships at Cambridge Public Schools.
We hope you will join us via Zoom on Wednesday, 9/29. We will hold a session from 10-11:30AM and will repeat the same session from 6-7:30PM.

CRLS Parent-to-Parent Meetings
The CRLS Parent-to- Parent meeting is an informal group of caregivers who come together once a month to support each other through the challenges of parenting teens. Meeting will stay virtual for covid safety and accessibility.

AP Exam Registration Deadline
For students taking a full-year and/or first semester AP course, registration for taking the AP exam is due November 4th. Students enrolled in second semester AP courses can register for those exams beginning at the start of the new semester.
Registration is a 3 Step Process:
1. Go to myap.collegeboard.org and "join class" using the registration code provided by your AP teacher.
2. When you join the class, your exam indicator defaults to Undecided. You MUST change this to YES if you want to take the exam.
3. Submit payment. Please use My School Bucks to complete your AP Registration (Here is a quick video on how to complete payment)
Each exam is $96. If you qualify for free/reduced lunch, the fee is $15 per exam.
Registration and Payment must be submitted before November 4th at 3:30PM.

Big Band Jazz Ensemble Auditions & Falcon Band
Audition for the CRLS Big Band Jazz Ensemble!
Big Band is a year long large jazz ensemble that rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6-9PM. Auditions are held throughout September and the ensemble starts up in October. Instruments include saxophones, trumpets, trombones, guitar, piano, bass and drums. We perform styles of funk, latin, swing, bebop and rock. Please contact Mr. Powers with any questions. All audition materials are located on the Big Band Google Classroom.

This non-auditioned large performance ensemble is for those students who play a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. It meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the band room, 0607. BWSI - Free Virtual Fall Program OPEN
Saturdays: Oct. 16, 23, 30, Nov. 6,13, 20, Dec. 4, 11 | 11AM - 2PM EST
The BWSI Fall Program (virtual) for 11th Grade female students will be starting in October. All students need are laptops and wifi to be a part of the program. If you do not have a laptop, please reach out to us for a loaner. More details >>

Tomato & Cucumber Mixup! Chopped tomatoes and cucumbers, white beans, a little lime juice and a pinch of salt. Tip: Any white bean will do - try chickpeas, cannelini beans, navy beans, etc.
