CRLS Fall Semester Curriculum Night
September 23 | 6-7:30 PM
Curriculum Night is a time to learn about what your child will be studying for the semester. Teachers will be pre-recording and sending caregivers their presentation of their course description, syllabus and grade policy for you to watch at your convenience on or before September 23.

MBTA Charlie Card Update
IF YOU NEED A STUDENT MBTA CARD
NOTE: NO CARDS WILL BE AVAILABLE TO BE PICKED UP IN THE MAIN OFFICE. IF YOU MISS THE DISTRIBUTION DATES AND TIMES YOU WILL NEED TO REQUEST A CARD BY EMAIL.
M7 Cards:
Food Service letters for free card eligibility will be mailed and emailed to CRLS students. Students/families should forward the letter to us via email requesting their card.
S Cards:
Students should send an email to [email protected] requesting a card.
If You Lose Your Charlie Card
- If you lose your S or M7 Card, please notify the CRLS main office by email immediately, to see if you can get a replacement. With a limited number of Charlie Cards, replacement is not guaranteed but we will try!
- The MBTA will not refund the value remaining on a “Pay as You Go” S-Card.
- If you choose the Monthly 7-day option, the MBTA may be able to issue a temporary paper pass for the rest of the month.

Drivers Education
Registration
Tuesday, September 21 | 3-5PM, Auto Garage (456 Broadway)
When & Where: All classes will be held virtually. Classes meet twice per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting September 28th. Students must attend 30 hours of classroom instruction
Cost: $650, which covers the 15 classroom sessions, the parent class, as well as the required 12 lessons of behind the wheel instruction. This price does not cover any fees charged by the Registry of Motor Vehicles for the permit, road test, or license.

Please note: A state mandated 2 hour class must be attended by a caregiver for any student under 18 years of age.
CRLS Parent-to-Parent Meetings
The CRLS Parent-to- Parent meeting is an informal group of caregivers who come together once a month to support each other through the challenges of parenting teens. Meeting will stay virtual for covid safety and accessibility.

AP Exam Registration Deadline
For students taking a full-year and/or first semester AP course, registration for taking the AP exam is due November 4th. Students enrolled in second semester AP courses can register for those exams beginning at the start of the new semester.
Registration is a 3 Step Process:
1. Go to myap.collegeboard.org and "join class" using the registration code provided by your AP teacher.
2. When you join the class, your exam indicator defaults to Undecided. You MUST change this to YES if you want to take the exam.
3. Submit payment. Please use My School Bucks to complete your AP Registration (Here is a quick video on how to complete payment)
Each exam is $96. If you qualify for free/reduced lunch, the fee is $15 per exam.
Registration and Payment must be submitted before November 4th at 3:30PM.

Big Band Jazz Ensemble Auditions & Falcon Band
Audition for the CRLS Big Band Jazz Ensemble!
Big Band is a year long large jazz ensemble that rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 9PM. Auditions are held throughout September and the ensemble starts up in October. Instruments include saxophones, trumpets, trombones, guitar, piano, bass and drums. We perform styles of funk, latin, swing, bebop and rock. Please contact Mr. Powers with any questions. This non-auditioned large performance ensemble is for those students who play a woodwind, brass or percussion instrument. It meets after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the band room, 0607. Biogen-MIT Biotech in Action: Virtual Fall Program (for 10th-12th Graders)
This 9-week virtual program will provide students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge and skills in STEM, while getting a real inside view of what it is like to work for a biotech company. Students will use virtual labs, online learning and conferencing software, and real-time conversations with employees of both Biogen and MIT to learn all about biotechnology and invention with a focus on Alzheimer’s disease. Priority will be given to students from low-income households and groups historically underrepresented in science.

Italian Herbed Tomatoes! Chopped tomatoes mixed with mozzarella cheese and a sprinkle of dried oregano or basil. Tip: Try fresh basil or other herbs and spices your kids like. Let kids sprinkle on the herbs for added fun!
