Estimadas familias,
La próxima semana comenzaremos nuestro programa completo de pruebas COVID. Esperábamos comenzar este lunes pasado, sin embargo, los retrasos a nivel estatal sólo nos permitieron hacer las pruebas el miércoles. A partir del lunes, 20 de septiembre, nos adheriremos al siguiente horario:
- L@s estudiantes de grados 3-6 con formularios de consentimiento firmados harán la prueba los lunes.
- L@s estudiantes de grados Jk-2 y 7 con formularios de consentimiento firmados se harán la prueba los martes.
- L@s estudiantes de 8º grado con formularios de consentimiento firmados se harán la prueba los miércoles.
Ya que estamos participando en las pruebas " agrupadas" para todos l@s estudiantes este año, usted sólo recibirá los resultados o se le pedirá hacer pruebas de seguimiento si hay una irregularidad o un positivo en la agrupación de su hij@. ¡Ninguna noticia se considera una buena noticia!

Entrada al edificio
Por favor, recuerde que los padres, madres, tutores y cuidadores no pueden entrar en el edificio a menos que tengan una cita. Si usted va a recoger a su hij@ temprano, por favor llame a la oficina principal y nosotros le acompañaremos a la puerta principal.
Salida
Para los padres, madres, tutores y cuidadores que recogen a sus estudiantes, les pedimos que por favor no se congreguen en la acera frente al edificio. Necesitamos ese espacio para poder llenar los autobuses y ha sido un reto esta semana con tanta gente quedándose a hablar durante la salida.
Almuerzo
En su mayor parte, tuvimos suerte esta semana con el clima y pudimos servir el almuerzo afuera 4 de los 6 días de escuela. Cuando servimos el almuerzo adentro, por favor apóyenos recordando a su hij@ que no se permite hablar y/o caminar mientras come.
¡Estamos muy contentos de volver a conectar con los demás!
Amigos de la Diáspora Africana Unidos (AADU)
El AADU tendrá su primera reunión el martes, 28 de septiembre de 2021 de 6-7:30 PM. Esta será una reunión de Zoom facilitada por el Dr. Lewis Bryant. El grupo también está planeando una reunión al aire libre a principios de octubre, así que esté atento a más información pronto.
Consejo Escolar de Amigos (ASC)
Tuvimos una estupenda primera reunión el martes por la noche. Gracias a todos l@s que asistieron. Para aquell@s que no pudieron asistir, por favor, hágame saber si usted está interesad@ en convertirse en un miembro del consejo. Estamos buscando 2 candidatos diversos para tomar el lugar de dos miembros cuyos hij@s se graduaron en junio. Como recordatorio, los consejos escolares sirven como un comité asesor de la directora de la escuela.
Friends of Amigos (FOA)
FOA es una organización sin fines de lucro financiada y administrada por los padres, madres, guardianes y cuidadores de Amigos. FOA trabaja para organizar eventos y recaudar fondos. La nueva presidenta de FOA es Melissa González. La secretaria es Roxann Barrett y la tesorera es Lisa Ravicz. Miércoles 22 de septiembre: Día de salida temprana, a las 12:55PM.
En octubre
Lunes 12 de octubre: Día feriado, Día de la Gente Indígena. No hay escuela.
Martes 12 a 15 de octubre: La semana de currículo. L@s maestr@s programarán sus propios eventos sobre el currículo de su clase para las madres, los padres y encargad@s.
Dear Families,
We will be starting our full COVID testing program next week. We had hoped to start this past Monday, however, delays at the state level only permitted us to test on Wednesday. Starting on Monday, September 20, we will adhere to the following schedule:
- Students in grades 3-6 with signed consent forms will be tested on Mondays.
- Students in grades Jk-2 and 7 with signed consent forms will test on Tuesdays.
- Students in 8th grade with signed consent forms will test on Wednesdays.
Since we are participating in “pooled” testing for all students this year, you will only receive results or be asked to do follow-up testing if there is an irregularity or a positive in your child’s pool. No news will mean good news!

We continue to work on smooth implementation of all our safety protocols.
Entry into the Building
Please be reminded that parents, guardians and caregivers are not allowed to come into the building unless they have an appointment. If you are picking your child up early, please call the main office and we will escort your child to you at the main gate.
Dismissal
For parents, guardians and caregivers who pick up their students, we ask that you please not congregate on the sidewalk in front of the building. We need that space to load the buses and it has been challenging this week with so many people staying to talk during dismissal.
Lunch
For the most part, we were lucky this week with the weather and were able to serve lunch outside 5 out of 6 days of school so far this year. When we do serve lunch indoors, please support us by reminding your child that talking and/or walking around while eating is not allowed.
We are excited to connect with one another again!
Amigos African Diaspora United (AADU)
The AADU will hold its first meeting on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 from 6- 7:30 PM. This will be a Zoom meeting facilitated by Dr. Lewis Bryant. The group is also planning an outside get together in early October so be on the lookout for more information soon.
Amigos School Council (ASC)
We had a great first meeting on Tuesday night. Thank you to everyone who attended. For those of you who couldn’t make it, please let me know if you are interested in becoming a member of the council. We are looking for 2 diverse candidates to take the place of two members whose children graduated in June. As a reminder, school councils serve as an advisory committee to the school principal.
Friends of Amigos (FOA)
FOA is a non-profit organization funded and managed by Amigos parents. FOA works to organize events and fundraise. The new president of FOA is Melissa Gonzalez. Wednesday, September 22: Early Release Day. Dismissal is at 12:55PM.
Coming in October
Monday, October 11: Holiday, Indigenous People’s Day. No School.
Tuesday, October 12: Curriculum Week. Teachers will schedule their own class curriculum event for parents and guardians.
 Healthy Snack of the Week
Black Bean Salad! Black beans with chopped tomatoes and a squeeze of lime juice, serve with corn chips. Tip: 3 food groups all wrapped up in one snack! Add a little avocado for healthy fats to help kids stay full!
