Dear Families,

Tuesday, February 23 from 7-8PM will be our Zoom information session for families of students who will be returning to in-person schooling on March 1. At this meeting we will discuss important school-wide safety protocols that all students and families must follow. Please plan to attend this meeting if you have a child returning to in-person learning.

Next week is February Vacation week. As you saw in Superintendent Salim’s weekly notice to families, it is very important that all families adhere to our Massachusetts Travel Restrictions. Most cases of COVID in schools have resulted from actions people take outside of the school and with our expansion on the horizon, we all need to work together to make sure we keep our community safe. In the newly adopted report, Schools and the Path to Zero, Dr. Allen et al. note the importance of “a widespread culture of health, safety, and shared responsibility and universal precautions out of school, including adherence to out-of-school rules for masking, small social circles, and physically distanced socializing and staying home when sick. While stringent controls in the school can keep kids and adults safe, what happens outside of school is just as important.”

We are the only K-8 school in the district and have a large number of students returning to in-person classes. While we know that the vast majority of our families are making the necessary sacrifices and staying as safe as possible, one unsafe choice can have a significant impact on our community. It is important that our whole community works together to help keep everyone safe.

In preparation for our expansion and in accordance with the Path to Zero report, we have created an Infection Control Team. This team will meet regularly to review our building and safety protocols. If you are interested in joining this team, please let me know.

I hope you all have a restful vacation week.

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Principal

Estimadas Familias,

En el informe recientemente aprobado, Schools and the Path to Zero, la Dra.

Sinceramente,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Directora
