On Friday, October 18th Deborah Lee Rose came to talk about her book Beauty and the Beak: How Science, Technology, and a 3D-Printed Beak Rescued a Bald Eagle. Students in grades 3-5 prepared for this visit by reading this book, watching videos about Beauty, as well as learning more about 3D printing. Connecting You to Putnam Ave Upper School (PAUS)
In trying to better connect all families with PAUS and make sure parents are learning accurate information, the liaisons from Kennedy-Longfellow, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Morse will be organizing some events throughout the year. The first event will be for Fourth & Fifth Grade Families. Please save the date (Friday, December 13th) for a parent to parent connecting to PAUS event. More information to follow. Please send Denise Sullivan, Morse Family Liaison, any questions you need answers to about PAUS.
Another way to learn more about PAUS is to read their monthly newsletter each month. You can find it here >>
Morse Marathon

Students, staff and parent volunteers went over to Magazine Beach and ran or walked from 9:00 to 10:30AM. It was a beautiful but slightly chilly day and of course the rain the evening before made the conditions very muddy. Fun was had by all!

Mathical Books
By Liz Vincent
Mathematics is more than just using numbers and equations. It is all around us. It also develops valuable skills in problem solving, critical thinking, and language. A great way to tap into these skills and dive deeper into the world of math is by reading math books. Since 2015, the Mathical Book Prize has been awarded annually to fiction and nonfiction books that inspire children of all ages to see math in the world around them. These stories include picture books, graphic novels, chapter books, and young adult literature.
Here are a few of my favorite Mathical Book Award winners to get you started.
