CRLS Orienteering Team

CRLS orienteering is beginning its third year this fall season, and with the new season comes new opportunities to train, explore, and compete in this off-trail racing sport. Athletes on the team can count on traveling to the forest to train at least two days a week, and will be competing at events around Massachusetts hosted by the New England Orienteering. For many students this will be a new experience, while others are looking to improve the speed and skills they have developed through the team in the past.

Orienteering is a racing sport where competitors hunt for a series of checkpoints hidden in terrain. The fastest time wins, but there are no markings to guide participants from one checkpoint to the next. Every competitor must combine speed with their ability to read the terrain on the fly in order to be successful. If you are interested in trying out this off-trail racing sport, please reach out to head coach Ethan Childs
