Sarah

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that we have a week left of school! It has been a wonderful year and I am looking forward to reflecting on everything over the summer. We always have areas of growth and I know that we will continue to work together to strengthen our school and community.

There are a few things I encourage parents to do before the end of the year. First, please take a moment to look through the lost and found, many classrooms have a box outside their door. The school-wide box is in the cafeteria. Any items left at the end of the school year will be donated. Also, please return any library books to Ms. Melisa. The Library Media Department does important inventory and data work over the summer. Finally, please inform Ms. Sheila in the office if you are moving or your child will not be returning to Amigos next year.

Along with many smaller trips and celebrations, we have a few larger ones that you don’t want to miss. Our 8th graders will graduate on June 12 at 3PM, our last school-wide party - appropriately called Fiesta - will be on June 13 at 5:30PM and our Kindergarten students will graduate on June 14 at 1:30PM.

Also, Beyond the 4th Wall, the nonprofit organization that features student actresses and actors from the city of Cambridge, will present "Beauty and the Beast" on June 13, 14 and 15 at 7PM and June 16 at 3PM at the CRLS Theater. We invite you to enjoy this musical with a wonderful cast that includes many Amigos students from 3rd through 8th grade! Tickets are on sale online ($10 for children and $15 for adults).

Finally, I wanted to thank Ms. Hamel for her JK-4 Musical Concert the other week and Ms. Hamel, Mr. Talley, Mr. Babecka and Mr. Brady for a great Upper School concert on Thursday. Music itself is a language and it is amazing to see how our young people excel in this area. I also thank Ms. Greene and Mr. Claros for having organized such a fun Field Day for everyone.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

Sarah Bartels-Marrero

Estimadas familias:

Atentamente,
Sarah Bartels-Marrero
Directora

CS Playground

Computer Science Playground

Last Friday, the 6th grade students enjoyed the “Computer Science Playground” organized by Cambridge Public School’s ICTS (Information, Communication and Technology Services) in conjunction with community partners from Lesley University, MIT Edgerton Center, MIT Playful Journey Lab, Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach, MIT Museum, and the Broad Institute. For the second hour, students engaged in Makey Makey, where they controlled a Scratch game, chose conductive materials and built their own sensors. They also took apart computers with screwdrivers in order to better understand their components!
