CRLS Annual Participatory Budget
CRLS is launching its second annual Participatory Budget Process. CRLS would love to hear your ideas on how to spend $10,000 to improve the school community again!
To share an idea, you will need to complete and submit a proposal form.
This form must be submitted no later than January 15, 2019.

Sign ups for the Jan. 12th ski trip has started, and will run through Jan. 7th. The cost of the trip is between $50-$60 depending on rental & lesson needs. No experience needed and newcomers are always welcome. To sign up or for more information see Jon in 3602 or email him.
The Commission on Immigrant Rights & Citizenship (CIRC), a City department, addresses the needs of Cambridge’s immigrant community in identifying, accessing and obtaining City and local resources, including legal services. Reach out to CIRC through our website. CIRC, in collaboration with CLSACC, offers a free monthly immigration legal screening clinic on the third Wednesdays of every month, from 5:15 – 7:15PM at CLSACC’s office, located at 47 Thorndike Street in East Cambridge.
Changes to School Schedules?
Did you know that CPS is considering making changes to school schedules? At the high school, the district is focused on exploring ways to improve student experiences within the existing schedule, while strengthening opportunities for educators to plan, collaborate, and advise their students. Learn more at the next CRLS School Council meeting, where potential options will be discussed and you will have the opportunity to ask your questions. All are welcome! Join us for a conversation at the next CRLS School Council meeting on Dec.19 at 6 PM. The meeting is held off-site at 119 Windsor Street in the 2nd floor conference room.

The CRLS Dance Program is proud to present DanceWorks!
Performances will be on Friday, December 14th at 7PM and
Saturday, December 15th at 7PM. And there will be a FREE open dress rehearsal on Thursday, December 13th at 3PM.
All performances take place in the Fitzgerald Theater.
Tickets are available online or at the door. $5 students, seniors; $10 adults.
This year the dance program will be honoring Richelle Robinson with a piece choreographed in her memory. Remembrance ribbons will be made available at the evening concerts.

Friends of CRLS is seeking student volunteers to call donors from the FOCRLS office at lunch time and/or after school before vacation. Receive community service credit! Please email or visit Room 2136 to become a Cool Caller!
Be a Wrap Star
Friends of CRLS is seeking student and adult volunteers to wrap shoppers' purchases and to represent CRLS / Friends of CRLS to the community at Henry Bear's Park in Porter Square. Shifts are two hours in the ranges below.
Tuesday, December 18 | 9AM - 3PM
Sunday, December 23 | 10:30AM - 6PM: Student volunteers can receive community service credit! If you're not able to get your community service credit form signed on Sunday, please visit the FOCRLS office, CRLS Room 2136, after school vacation.

The National Association of Asian American Professionals - Boston (NAAAP Boston) is pleased to invite eligible students to apply to the 2019 NAAAP Boston Future Leader Scholarship awards.
NAAAP is a non-profit organization that empowers Asian Americans through leadership development, professional networking, and community service. Our scholarship serves to recognize outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated leadership inside and outside the classroom and contributed meaningfully to their communities.
All Massachusetts high school seniors who are of Asian/Pacific Islander descent with demonstrated financial need are encouraged to apply. Candidates are evaluated on academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community service involvement, and financial circumstances. Historically, awards have ranged from $2500-$5000.

Junior State of America (JSA) at CRLS
Do you have comments or criticisms about current government policies or regulations? How about debating your stance on popular topics such as gun control, the death penalty, animal testing, or abortion? If so, consider joining JSA discussions in room 2135 on Thursdays during OTI
Junior State of America (JSA) is a student-run, non-partisan, non-profit political awareness club. Students run chapter meetings, decide on debate topics, and organize every aspect of the chapter. JSA gives students an opportunity to voice their opinions on local, state, national, and world issues. If you have any questions please stop by room 2135 or email us.
Girls STEM Summit-Statewide 2019
The premier summit is an annual daylong event for 8-12 grade girls interested in pursuing STEM careers or exploring STEM topics. As this is a critical time in their education, and college decisions are beginning, we hope to empower these young women to see the many opportunities available to them within STEM.
The daylong event will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. The registration fee is $67 per student and includes all speakers, hands-on sessions, lunch, and a take home gift.

CSV is excited to return and support the CRLS community. For the 2018-2019 school year, CSV's high school one-to-one programs will be offered in three locations. Please read below for service details.
Subject-based Tutoring Services
Before-school Tutoring (7 - 8AM)
We are sharing space with Work Force. Our before-school tutoring will be located in room 2403 (in the middle of the hallway on the second floor).
After-school Tutoring (2:45 - 3:45PM)
After-school tutoring will be located in the College/Career Resource Center, room 1501.
Drop-In Math Tutoring
Monday - Friday | 7:30 - 8AM

College/Career Mentoring Services (2:30PM)
SAT Prep and College/Career Mentoring will be held in the CRLS Library's Inquiry Lab (formerly known as the fiction room).
SAT Prep
SAT Prep's Session I is from 2:30 to 4:30PM on Tuesdays at the CRLS Library, Inquiry Lab. Please encourage seniors to attend- all grade levels are welcome.
College/Career Mentoring
College/career mentoring is from 2:30 to 4:30PM on Wednesdays. In support of guidance, we help seniors with personal statements/scholarship essays, and post secondary education searches and applications. We reserved the inquiry lab to 3:30PM. However, mentors will continue to work with them in the library up to 4:30PM. The kickoff date is Oct. 3rd.

Jenny Smith is now available at the Career and College Center (CCRC) on Tuesday - Friday from 9AM - 3:30PM. uAspire works to ensure that all young people have the financial information and resources necessary to find an affordable path to – and through – a post secondary education. uAspire partners with high schools, community organizations, and colleges to provide college affordability advice to more than 10,000 young people and their families every year. Through our work, college-ready students have the support and knowledge they need to overcome financial barriers and succeed in college.

City of Cambridge Participatory Budget Vote Week is Here!
Are you a resident of Cambridge and at least 12 years old? Come out and VOTE on how to spend $900,000 to improve the city! Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process through which community members directly decide how to spend part of a public budget. The City hopes that PB will help directly involve residents in the budgeting and City-building process, foster civic engagement and community spirit, and help ensure that the City’s Capital Plan reflects the priorities of Cambridge residents.
