Writing

Join the Creative Writing Club
The Creative Writing Club will be meeting today, January 26th, after school 2:45PM in the Fiction Room at the Pearl K. Wise (CRLS) Library. All interested students are welcome to attend!

NSP

Neighborhood Service Projects
If your child is age 14-15 and looking for a paid work opportunity, have him or her join up with Neighborhood Service Projects! Groups will work 4-6 hours per week on a project that addresses a social issue in the community. They could make a movie, plan an event, write a song, or build a webpage. Students will build up work skills, get paid, and have fun all at the same time. Projects run out of Gately, Area IV, and Russell Youth Centers from February 11-May 15. Students can pick up an application in the Youth Employment Center (CRLS Room 2101) during lunch, or click here for more information and to download an application. The deadline is February 6, so don’t delay.

AP Exams

2015 AP Exam Registration is Underway
The deadline is February 6, 2015. You can obtain a form and instructions from your AP teacher, your guidance counselor, or download here. Any forms received after February 6 require an additional $30 late fee. Questions: Contact AP Coordinator.

The Math Packets are Here!
Are you starting a NEW a math class next semester? If the answer is “YES” then you have an assignment called a math pre-course packet. Pre-course packets feature skills and material that you need to know before you begin your math class on January 26th. Learn more >>

Everybody is Welcome at Math Club
We think through challenging questions and learn creative ways to solve problems. Participate in the American Math Contest (AMC), which will take place on Tuesday, February 3 at 2:45PM in Room 3124. Stop by Room 3124 or email Mr. Patterson for more info!

Let's Talk about Relationships
Young Women of CRLS! Are you interested in joining your peers in great conversation about relationships? Every Thursday in the Teen Health Conference Room, both lunches.  We provide the pizza, you decide the topics you wish to discuss. Join a great, ongoing group. Girls only, but tell your guy friends about their opportunity every Thursday in the RSTA conference room. Come on your own or bring your friends.

Guys! Are you "hungry" for good conversation? Every Thursday Lunch A or B, come to the RSTA conference room (#1312), for a guys only discussion group about relationships - come enjoy pizza and discussion with fellow CRLS guys. You decide the topics. Come on your own or bring friends.

Calling Interested Parents to Share their Skills, Experience, and Insights
Parents! Please consider sharing your skills, experience, and insights with a CRLS senior who is eager to contribute to your work!

The CRLS Senior Internship Program is currently seeking second semester placements for senior interns. Internship candidates have expressed interest in the following fields, and we would love to hear what else might be out there:

Health Care, Journalism, Fashion, Politics, Human Rights, Business, Science, Physical Therapy, Veterinary Science/Animal Care

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about supervising a CRLS Intern, please contact Kathleen FitzGerald at 617.349.4946. The program runs during 3rd and 4th blocks (12:15 - 2:30PM) Monday - Friday, except alternating Fridays when students attend an in-school seminar, from February through May, 2015. These are unpaid internships.

Upward Bound

MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program is Recruiting 9th Graders
The MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program provides after school tutoring during the school year and a six-week residential summer program at Wellesley College. Upward Bound offers academic support and college preparation guidance including college tours and senior seminars. Both the school year and summer session offer various recreational and cultural activities and field trips.

Breakthrough is looking for teachers and tutors for our after school program. You will get hands-on classroom experience teaching and mentoring 6-10 middle school students. Northeastern University Summer Programs
Young Scholars Program runs from June 22 - July 31. Program offers future scientists and engineers a unique opportunity for hands-on experience while still in high school.
