FOCA Parent Social & Fundraiser, January 17th
Join us for a fun social evening. The event is open to all CRLS parents, athletics/CRLS staff, parents of rising 9th graders, and other community members interested in the CRLS athletics experience. There will be music and adult beverages, along with a raffle and very brief commentary on parent engagement in athletics. Funds raised will support not only the winter sports teams but contribute to the FOCA general fund from which coaches grants (for all seasons), line of clothing in the school store, and college scholarships are supported.

Attention: Juniors Interested in National Honor Society Membership
If at the end of first semester, your GPA makes you eligible for membership in the National Honor Society, you will need 30 hours of community service. You may want to check your current community service status and complete any extra hours that may be needed. Please note that this information is in the Student Handbook and also on the CRLS website.


Attention All Seniors: Need Money
for College?

We think through challenging questions and learn creative ways to solve problems. Participate in the American Math Contest (AMC), which will take place on Tuesday, February 3 at 2:45PM in Room 3124. Stop by Room 3124 or email Mr. Patterson for more info!

Calling Interested Parents to Share their Skills, Experience, and Insights
Parents! Please consider sharing your skills, experience, and insights with a CRLS senior who is eager to contribute to your work!

The CRLS Senior Internship Program is currently seeking second semester placements for senior interns. Internship candidates have expressed interest in the following fields, and we would love to hear what else might be out there:

Health Care, Journalism, Fashion, Politics, Human Rights, Business, Science, Physical Therapy, Veterinary Science/Animal Care

If you or someone you know is interested in learning more about supervising a CRLS Intern, please contact Kathleen FitzGerald at 617.349.4946. The program runs during 3rd and 4th blocks (12:15 - 2:30PM) Monday - Friday, except alternating Fridays when students attend an in-school seminar, from February through May, 2015. These are unpaid internships.


Let's Talk about Relationships
Young Women of CRLS! Are you interested in joining your peers in great conversation about relationships? Every Thursday in the Teen Health Conference Room, both lunches.  We provide the pizza, you decide the topics you wish to discuss. Join a great, ongoing group. Girls only, but tell your guy friends about their opportunity every Thursday in the RSTA conference room. Come on your own or bring your friends.

Guys! Are you "hungry" for good conversation? Every Thursday Lunch A or B, come to the RSTA conference room (#1312), for a guys only discussion group about relationships - come enjoy pizza and discussion with fellow CRLS guys. You decide the topics. Come on your own or bring friends.

Girl's Hockey

Interested in playing ice hockey?
The CRLS School Girls Ice Hockey Team is now able to open tryouts for this year to 8th grade students in the City of Cambridge. Parents, if you have a daughter in 8th grade who would like to place ice hockey for the high school team please contact Director of Athletics, Tom Arria ASAP via email or call 617.349.6690.

Students interested should have previous experience either playing or skating experience. Expectations for participation in a high school sports is 2 hours or practice per day 6-7 days per week. Games are typically scheduled on Wednesday nights or Saturday day or nights.

Once you contact Tom Arria, parents must register students online through Family ID and submit a valid physical and a certificate of completion for the online concussion course. If you have any questions you can contact Tom Arria or Head Coach Katelyn Greene

Upward Bound

MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program is Recruiting 9th Graders
The MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program provides after school tutoring during the school year and a six-week residential summer program at Wellesley College. Upward Bound offers academic support and college preparation guidance including college tours and senior seminars. Both the school year and summer session offer various recreational and cultural activities and field trips.

Breakthrough is looking for teachers and tutors for our after school program. You will get hands-on classroom experience teaching and mentoring 6-10 middle school students. The City of Cambridge Scholarship awards $2,500 to Cambridge residents wishing to pursue post-secondary education.  Applications are due March, 9 2015 and are available throughout all City buildings, online, and on the CRLS Scholarship database that will be available soon.
