Dear Families,
It has been another great week here at Amigos! This week I am thrilled to share with you the news that one of our 8th grade students won the National Association for Bilingual Education (NABE) Middle School Student of the Year Award. Isabella Lozada, won this award with her powerful essay about what being bilingual means to her. Each year our students enter the NABE essay contest and we couldn’t be prouder of Isabella’s accomplishment.
This week we also wrapped up our Response to Intervention (RTI) data meetings. In alignment with the Cambridge district wide plan, these meetings are held three times a year and allow for us to appropriately match students with the instruction, enrichment and/or intervention they need to be successful at Amigos. They also help us to target the specific needs of each individual student’s learning. If you have questions, about the RTI process, please contact your child’s teacher.
On another note, I regret to inform you that February 1st will be Nurse Julien’s last day here at Amigos. We have enjoyed having her as part of our community and thank her for all her hard work. We will have daily substitutes in place until we are able to find a new full-time nurse.

Estimadas familias,
¡Ha sido otra gran semana aquí en Amigos! Esta semana estoy feliz de compartir con ustedes la noticia de que una de nuestras estudiantes del 8° grado ganó el premio Estudiante del Año de la Asociación Nacional de Educación Bilingüe (NABE). Isabella Lozada, ganó este premio con su poderoso ensayo sobre lo que significa para ella ser bilingüe. Cada año, nuestros alumnos participan en el concurso de ensayos de NABE y no podemos estar más orgullosos del logro de Isabella.
Esta semana también terminamos nuestras reuniones de datos sobre Respuesta a Intervención (RTI) para las Matemáticas y las Artes del Lenguaje. De acuerdo con el Plan de Mejoramiento del Distrito de Cambridge, estas reuniones tienen lugar tres veces al año y nos permiten alinear apropiadamente los estudiantes con la enseñanza, enriquecimientos y/o intervenciones que ellos/ellas necesitan para ser académicamente exitosos en Amigos. También nos ayudan a enfocarnos en las necesidades específicas e individuales del aprendizaje de cada estudiante. Si usted tiene preguntas sobre el proceso de Respuesta a Intervención (RTI), favor de comunicarse con su maestra/o.
Por otra parte, les informo que el 1ro de febrero será el último día de la enfermera Julien en Amigos. Hemos disfrutado de haberla tenido como miembra de nuestra comunidad y le agradecemos todo su trabajo y compromiso. Tendremos sustitutos con nosotros hasta poder encontrar una nueva enfermera de tiempo completo.
