High School Diving Coach Needed
Cambridge Rindge & Latin School (CRLS) has an open position for Diving Coach starting immediately for the 2017-2018 winter sports season. CRLS Swim & Diving program has about 70 students and last year had the largest diving team in the state with a 24-student roster, several of whom competed in the state championships. Recent CRLS grad, Gabe Bamforth, a back-to-back state champion, is an All-American and among the top divers in the NCAA competing at Carnegie Mellon. CRLS Diving is an inclusive program with no cuts, no athletic fees for participants, and truly embodies the CRLS motto of "Opportunity, Diversity, and Respect."

CRLS Parent-to-Parent Group
December 7th
The overall purpose of the Parent-to-Parent Group is to build community and support each other through these challenging yet exciting times. Join us this Thursday evening for a discussion on how to make the best of holiday/ vacation time with our teens with an emphasis on self care.
The CRLS Parent-to-Parent Group is open to all CRLS parents / guardians and will be held on the first Thursday of the month from 6- 7:30PM in the Principal Conference Room. A light meal is provided. Childcare provided upon request.

Meetings are held off-site and in the community on the last Tuesday of the month from 6-7:30PM. Each meeting starts with a topic related to the School Improvement Plan (SIP) followed by a Q&A. The last half hour of the meeting is open discussion. Meetings are held off-site in the fall and spring.

It's That Time of Year Again: We're Looking for Internships for CRLS Seniors
We like to reach out to the CRLS parent and guardian community to see if there might be some opportunities at your place of work. Internships are unpaid and run during the spring semester. Students are available from about 12:15 - 2:30PM everyday when school is in session, except for some alternating Fridays, when they meet at school for a seminar.
This year, we are working with some great students who are interested in:
- small business management
- social media marketing
- biomedical engineering
- finance/accounting
- architecture
- electrical repair
- social work with children
- criminal justice reform
- epidemiology

There is now an Adolescent Substance Abuse specialist at Teen Health! Dr. David G. Stewart from the Cambridge Health Alliance will see students on Thursdays between 9AM - 1PM. Any student can go to Teen Health during lunch without a pass to meet him.
The Amigos Community School is Seeking Responsible High School Volunteers and Part Time Employees
Our program offers after school enrichment classes to students ages 4 -10 years old. Do you enjoy working with children? Are you interested in gaining experience in youth work, curriculum design and education? Then this could be a great opportunity for you! Hours are generally from 3 - 6PM, 2-3 days per week. The schedule is flexible. Interested candidates are encouraged to send an email to the Amigos Community School Director, Amber Pittenger Tillson.

The MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program is currently recruiting CRLS 9th & 10th graders
Upward Bound Program provides after school tutoring during the school year and a six-week residential summer program at Wellesley College. The program also offers academic support and college preparation guidance including college tours and senior seminars. Both the school year and
summer session offer various recreational and cultural activities and field trips. Upward Bound is a free Federally funded program for low-income and/or first-generation students.

There are many opportunities for parent engagement at CRLS and the Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA) supports many aspects of this process for the athletics program. Participation is simple and there are many volunteer opportunities. Areas range from FOCA events to serving as parent liaison to teams. Now Accepting Applications for Breakthrough Greater Boston Class of 2024
Do you know a current 6th grade student in Cambridge? Breakthrough Greater Boston is now accepting applications for the class of 2024! Breakthrough Greater Boston is a free, year-round, academic enrichment program. We offer an exciting curriculum and small classes taught by trained college students. Students must apply during their 6th grade year and make a six-year commitment. The application is due December 15 and can be found at our website. Teach or Tutor with Breakthrough Greater Boston this Semester
Be an Academic Mentor: Breakthrough Greater Boston is looking for students and professionals to serve as Academic Mentors for our middle and high school students. Academic Mentors help our students build study skills, get organized, and improve their academic performance. Additional details and application info can be found on our website.
Teach in our School Year Program: Breakthrough Greater Boston is currently seeking dynamic and talented high school and college students with a passion for urban education to teach during our After School Program. Teaching Fellows will be responsible for delivering instructional content in a structured and supportive classroom setting consisting of 6-10 middle school students. Teaching Fellows receive training, professional development, and ongoing instructional coaching and support from experienced teachers throughout the fellowship. Cambridge School Volunteers will work to find a tutor who can help you once or twice a week. Tutoring sessions happen before school, 7:30 - 8AM, Mon-Fri or after school, 2:45 - 3:45PM, Mon-Fri. starting September 25. Don't wait until you are behind! Request some support now.
