Message from RSTA Executive Director
The Faculty of RSTA and I welcome our students and their families, and all the community supporters who are a part of RSTA, to our program’s website for the 2017-2018 school year.
Last year, RSTA said farewell to and thanked five great educators who had made significant contributions to the program as they began the retirement leg of their life’s journey. We were exceptionally fortunate to hire five outstanding educators who are ready, willing, and able to pick up where their predecessors have left off. Read more >>

For ninth graders enrolled in either RSTA Exploratory (Tech Exploratory T120 or BE-IT Exploratory T121):
Tuesday, Sept. 5: Block 2 (12:28 - 1:06PM)
Report to the Main Cafeteria;
Beginning Wednesday, Sept. 6: Block 2 (9:48 - 11:08AM)
Go to your specifically-assigned Exploratory class.

Aspen Access for Families
Aspen allows you to view your child's grades, attendance, class work, and homework any time it is convenient for you. There is a link to Aspen from the CRLS parents web page. We are here to help support you with any login issues. We can also provide you with some tips for navigating through the Aspen tabs. Please email the CRLS Tech Center anytime.
CRLS Provides All Incoming Freshman with Laptops
School administrators are leveling the playing field for students entering the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School this year with regard to their access to computers. The school is giving each of the 493 incoming freshmen a Google Chromebook to use in the classroom and for assignments at home. Read on >>
Club Day
Club Days will be a Club fair during all three lunches on Sept. 28th. Students will be able to visit club booths, talk to current members of each club to learn more about clubs, and sign-up to participate in clubs.
Friends of CRLS Invites You to Kick-off Events This September
Friends of CRLS (FOCRLS) invites everyone interested in supporting opportunities for CRLS students, grads, and faculty to attend either or both of their School Year Kick-off Events in September:
Thursday, September 14th
8:30 - 9:30AM – CRLS, Media Cafeteria
Wednesday, September 27th
7:30 - 8:30PM – CRLS, P. K. Wise Library
Learn about the organization, mingle with others who care about student success, and find out how you can make a difference.
FOCRLS is a dynamic nonprofit association providing Scholarships, Student Travel Fellowships, Faculty Innovation Grants, Faculty Distinction Awards, and Unsung Heroes Awards, all of which they're able to do by working with volunteers. FOCRLS is seeking participants for various events (including their second spring gala at Google!), website improvement, social media updates, serving on their Board, and much more. Students receive Community Service credit (a requirement for CRLS graduation) for volunteering with FOCRLS.

Friends of CRLS Student Travel Fellowships Applications Coming Soon
If you're hoping to participate in a 2018 school trip to Ecuador & The Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, or Ireland but need financial assistance, a Student Travel Fellowship from Friends of CRLS can make a world of difference! Look for the guidelines and application coming soon at focrls.org and crls.cpsd.us. Most trip applications will be due on or before Monday, October 2nd. Please note that funds are limited. Applicants must have at least a B average and be currently enrolled in the free/reduced lunch program. If you have questions, please email us or stop by Room 2136 (M-Th, 9AM - 2PM).

Don't Forget to Complete Your Summer Reading Assignment
Students who don't have any overdue or lost books may check out books over the summer from the CRLS Library. The library is open from 7:30AM - 5PM, Monday - Thursday and 7:30AM - 3PM on Friday (but closed during CM). Students coming to the library during class time will be expected to have an official library pass from their Learning Community office.

It's not too late to finish your Summer Math Packets!
If your child is taking a math class this semester, they have a summer math assignment known as a pre-course packet.
Pre-course packets were distributed through math teachers and my office last spring. They are also available on the CRLS Math Department website. Pre-Course packets are due on the 1st day of math class. Download the packet >>
CRLS Sandwich Ordering System
Save time and order your sandwich ahead of time. All orders must be placed by 10AM that day. Pickup your sandwich in the CRLS Main cafeteria. Check it out >>
Get Involved with FOCA
There are many opportunities for parent engagement at CRLS and the Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA) supports many aspects of this process for the athletics program. Participation is simple and there are many volunteer opportunities. Areas range from FOCA events to serving as parent liaison to teams. To learn more about our work and to get involved visit our website, send an email, or just come to one of our meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Athletics office 6 - 7:30PM.

Drop-in Math Help Available
Stop by the Tutoring Center, Room 2132, 7:30 - 8AM, Monday through Friday, to see Mr. Duche, Academic Support Teacher. Come any morning for help with your math problems!
Tutoring Center
Do you need your own 1:1 tutor to help in any subject? Come by the Tutoring Center, Room 2132, to fill out a request form for a tutor. See Mr. Duche or Ms. Williams. Cambridge School Volunteers will work to find a tutor who can help you once or twice a week.
Tutoring sessions happen before school, 7:30 - 8AM, Mon-Fri or after school, 2:45 - 3:45PM, Mon-Fri. starting September 25. Don't wait until you are behind! Request some support now.

First Work
If you are 14 or 15 years old, there are jobs available through First Work. Apply in Room 1312 between 7:15AM and 3PM. Must be 14 or 15 years old to apply.
