Halloween Fun
This past Friday the FMA community: the FMA, the FMA Community School, and Tutoring Plus came together to host a Halloween party for FMA students and families. The festivities began with a Variety Act presentation followed by an hour of activity stations including the ever popular Bouncy Castle, to face painting and mask making, to a Palm reading hosted by our very own oracle, principal Harris. Bring on the Pumpkins
During October principal Harris gave each classroom a pumpkin to decorate. As you can see our students and classrooms are phenomenally creative! Some of the pumpkins have been decorated as awesome and fresh interpretations of traditional Halloween characters. Others are outfitted based on characters in some of the books that our scholars are reading. What are some of the characters you see in the picture above? From what books or stories?

Get Involved at FMA
There are numerous volunteer opportunities at the Fletcher Maynard. For example you can volunteer to become a room parent and support your child’s classroom teacher. You can join the FMA PTO and get involved with their numerous projects that support the school. Learn more >>
Wings for Autism Program
The Charles River Center, in cooperation with Massachusetts Port Authority, Jet Blue, and the TSA offer free ‘trainings’ for children to practice getting on a plane, getting boarding passes, and getting accustomed to the experience of boarding a plane.

Special Hours at the Children’s Museum
The Children’s Museum offers special dates/times for children with special needs to visit the Museum at times when the Museum is not crowded. The next dates are:
Sunday, November 23 | 6 - 8PM
Friday, December 26 | 8 - 10AM
Monday, January 19 | 8 - 10AM
Registration is required as they only allow 100 families to attend at a time. The cost for non-members is $7 p/p. There is also an easy-to-read book about autism available from the Cambridge Public Library called: Understanding Autism for Dummies by Steven Shore and Linda Rastelli.
The title is from the book series called “_____________” for Dummies. It is not intended as an insult.
