FMA Trip to MIT Edgerton Center
By: Ms. Sullivan
Second graders took a trip to the MIT Edgerton Center for an experiment in trial and error engineering through the Lego Car Rally program! In this program, students were provided Lego kits to build cars with partners. They could adjust wheel size, number of wheels, number of axles, length, height, and weight of their cars. Then, they received points for each car they made based on its tilt ability and the distance it was able to travel from a ramp. Students could build as many cars as they wanted to try to make the perfect design and accumulate the most points! They learned that weight and height matter a lot when it comes to engineering cars! They also learned to work as a team and have fun!

Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice Celebration
On December 21st, the longest night of the year, the preschool class celebrated the winter solstice. We wore pajamas, read winter books in tents with flashlights, painted with white puffy paint that we made ourselves, drew pictures in shaving cream, and ate cereal for snack. We had two parent volunteers to help us; big thanks to Christopher's mom and Aria's dad! Welcome, winter!

Wonder

Character Essay - Wonder
By: Edlawit Z.
August is a boy with a fatal disease. Every time he goes outside, people move to the other sidewalk, look down, or whisper to someone next to him/her. He has gotten used to it and acts like he doesn’t notice and care, but deep down, it hurts him. August, from the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio is a fortunate kid. He is fortunate because he survived a deadly disease, he has an caring and understanding sister, and he has two real friends, Summer and Charlotte. Read more >>

FMA Cares

FMA Cares!
By: Ms. Harris
We were wondering if you could give our teacher, Ms Waddell a day off because she works really hard, no matter what us kids do. She never gives up and she is very serious with the things she does. Also, she does nice stuff for us, so we thought we should do something nice for her. She is the best teacher ever!

WINTER CONCERT
The Winter Concert was a big success despite the cold temperatures. The children were at their best, and we were all so proud of them!

DID YOU KNOW....
This school is the lucky host of the Kodaly music program? This year, the Kodaly method was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list after a meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as an example of best practices for preservation of culture, listing that UNESCO reserves for those models of teaching that are worthy of use on an international scale and that provide a good example for countries throughout the world.
