CRLS will offer expanded times for Family-Teacher Conferences on October 18 - 20, 2016. In addition to increased availability for conferences, CRLS will utilize the online pre-registration program as well as maintaining an open walk-in time.

CRLS Designated as a Global Ambassador School
CRLS Travel Committee is very excited to announce that CRLS has been selected as one of the select few Global Ambassador Schools by the Council for International Educational Exchange. 

CIEE is a nonprofit organization that seeks to engage a wider range of students with Global Leadership by offering substantial scholarships for students towards international travel experiences next summer. PSAT Schedule for October 19
On October 19th, 2016 CRLS will have an altered daily schedule due to administration of the PSAT/NMSQT for 10th and 11th grade students, and the PSAT 9 Assessment for 9th grade students. Each exam gauges student skills in math, reading, and writing. View the schedule >>

CRLS food pantry needs your help!
Club 4 students will be collecting donations during the CRLS Parent-Teacher Conferences Oct.18-20. Please consider bringing non-perishable items such as cereal, rice, cooking oil, pasta, dried beans, and Nutrigrain bars to the CRLS Main Office during conferences.

Cambridge Family Literacy Fun Day
Saturday, November 5 | 10:30AM - 2:30PM

We are in need of high school student volunteers to help with  set-up of the event, be at one of many activities that will be happening throughout the day and clean-up. You can volunteer for the full day or part of the day. Organizers of the event will begin to set-up at 8AM. Clean-up should be done by 3:30PM. Lunch will be provided. Composting/Recycling Volunteers Needed
I am looking for a few volunteers to help me get the composting/recycling off to a good start during the three lunch periods. I need parents to help advise kids where things go in both the Main Cafeteria and the Media Cafe. I am hoping it will just be for a few weeks. The first lunch period starts at 11:15AM and the last ends at 1:10PM. 

Please contact me if you want to help improve & minimize the amount of waste that happens in the cafeteria.

Cambridge Public Health Flu Clinics:
Oct. 12–Nov. 9
Nasal spray vaccine will not be offered.

The Cambridge Public Health Department will be offering free flu shots (influenza vaccine) to people who live or work in Cambridge at sites throughout the city from Oct. 12 through Nov. 9. 

The flu can be a serious illness, and the best way to protect yourself is to get a flu shot every year. Flu vaccine is considered safe and effective for adults and children over 6 months. While there is no charge to the public for flu shots, people with health insurance are encouraged to bring their cards with them to the clinics.

Get involved with Breakthrough!
Breakthrough Greater Boston is looking for CRLS students to be After School Program Teaching Fellows and Academic Mentor Volunteers for our middle school students. After School Program Teaching Fellows help groups of students complete homework and lead a hands-on STEAM workshop once a week. Academic Mentor Volunteers are paired with a student for an entire semester, and Mentors work with their student one-on-one to develop study skills in core academic subjects. For more information, please visit our website or email Shoko Fox.

Harvard Internship Program
Know a CRLS Junior or Senior who is looking for work? How about a paid opportunity that will look great on their college brag sheet? We're recruiting now for the Harvard Internship Program. CRLS juniors and seniors can work four afternoons a week at a library or office at Harvard for the full school year! Anyone interested should come into the Youth Employment Center at CRLS (Room 2101) to pick up an application and sign up for an interview. If you have questions, contact George Hinds.

MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program
Upward Bound Program provides after school tutoring during the school year and a six-week residential summer program at Wellesley College. The program also offers academic support and college preparation guidance including college tours and senior seminars. Both the school year and summer session offer various recreational and cultural activities and field trips. The MIT/Wellesley Upward Bound Program will host Guest Visitation Days on the following dates:

Get Involved with FOCA
There are many opportunities for parent engagement at CRLS and the Friends of Cambridge Athletics (FOCA) supports many aspects of this process for the athletics program. Participation is simple and there are many volunteer opportunities. Areas range from FOCA events to serving as parent liaison to teams. To learn more about our work and to get involved visit our website, send an email, or just come to one of our meetings held the 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Athletics office 6 - 7:30PM.

Seniors, thinking about your next steps? Whether you need help with college, gap, technical, or job readiness program applications, we can help. Come and get paired with a mentor who is dedicated to helping you. College/Career Mentor Program for seniors is from 2:30 to 3:30PM in the CCRC room (1501).
